    Gear Ratio/Torque Converter?

Back when I was only making 212rwhp/282 ft-lbs-mine would stall at just over 2400. It was good enough for a 1.92 60' in my lead-sled of a car. JL

    Gear Ratio/Torque Converter?

The stock converter is rated to stall from approx 2300-2700. Each car will vary a bit due to the actual tq output of the engine. JL

    got a 4.6 block

    Yep-that's it. JL

    got a 4.6 block

If the rear main is cross-bolted,then it's a good block. The '96-'97's had this block. If the rear main isn't cross bolted, then scrap it.That would be a '94-'95 Tbird block. JL

Rick Swain 96-98 Heads vs 99 PI Heads

It's true, and I've been told several times(by people that have more experience with these engines than anybody on earth)... "You can't fix stupid-you just beat them at the track, and leave them wondering" I'm done-no matter what I type here-you'll manage to twist it into another way to...

Guys running stock crank 96 and up

I think you misunderstood me.I'm referring to the crankshaft sprocket on the crank that drives the camshafts.Ford manufactured them two ways.A single piece for both chains,or a two-piece with one small gear for each chain. The 2 piece has alot more load and stress on the crank keyway and the key...

Guys running stock crank 96 and up

The crank key itself,or the keyway in the crankshaft snout? What year engine? Single or two piece camshaft sprockets on the crank snout? JL

Rick Swain 96-98 Heads vs 99 PI Heads

Mike spent that much becuase he didn't as much as pick up a screwdriver-I challenge ANYBODY to get their hands on an engine with all of the same parts, and pieces with the same work done to it for less..it's not gonna happen. I'm not gonna pit my production castings with portwork against a set...

Rick Swain 96-98 Heads vs 99 PI Heads

Amazing..earlier in this thread, people were saying that 300rwhp would never happen-not even close.I'm close, and with a better set of cams-it's in the bag. Now it's 400rwhp with a power adder...Hmm..I guess I need to bolt on that little N20 kit that somebody keeps telling me to use. As for...

Guys running stock crank 96 and up

No need to add the extra 7 lbs of rotating mass from the steel Cobra crank unless you plan on making tons of power in a race car. I've never heard of or seen a failed crankshaft from a defect or weakness in the cast crankshaft itself. JL

    torque converter

Sure can.The T/C must be locked to do so,but that's the same situation with a stock T/C too. JL

Rick Swain 96-98 Heads vs 99 PI Heads

If you'll read through this post,or others linked here-you'll see that I'm comparing cars with the same tuning, same gears, similar exhaust, and similar converters. The closest car to me running PI's is using 4.10's. Distance down the track means nothing where flow is concerned-the heads flow the...

Rick Swain 96-98 Heads vs 99 PI Heads

No way in hell 3-5 tenths of the improvement was from that converter-it was a failry inefficient A4LD/4R70W hybird converter, and we're talking about a car that is heavier than a Mustang by approx 600 lbs BTW...after I swapped out to an intake that was halfway worth a ****-It dropped down to a...

Rick Swain 96-98 Heads vs 99 PI Heads

Close, but that's not exactly how it is. The combustion chambers still have approx a 10cc size difference, and no machinist will mill the heads down enough to make up for that-so Compression will always be a difference between the 2 heads with the same shortblock. And it's not just the portsize...

Rick Swain 96-98 Heads vs 99 PI Heads

Reading back through this one..it's amazing how much has changed in the last year or so...and how many guys have opened their eyes, and learned a few things about the capabilities of the Non-PI heads. JL

    AF readings without cats??

Well,No ****... The more free-flowing exhaust will scavenge a bit more air,and that air has to come from somewhere...the air inlet tube..and what's connected to that tube? That's right, the MAF. Therefore stating that headers, etc will make a car run leaner is simply BS,and is the typical...

look at my dynos, need help please!

Knock sensor is pulling timing.Could be ****ty fuel,or that garbage C&L jacking with the EEC's load calculations.Spark advanve is related to load.... Seen it several times before. JL

    AF readings without cats??

Care to explain how air/fuel is altered when all of the airflow that enters the engine is drawn through the MAF(Mass Airflow Meter)? JL
