    check through your power and signal wiring from battery to amp, deck to amp, etc. I've seen situations where, for example, a wire running through the firewall has started to go raw of insulation in spots, and will become erratic.

    FYI, on the kick panels, if you get the empty ones and want to be able to mount better (i.e. deeper) speakers, since even the aftermarket speaker kick panels don't give much backspacing... Make spacer rings! My buddy did this on his 66 and it worked great. Make maybe 3/4in. spacers out of MDF...

    forgot, also, you might want to try mounting a center speaker. it's a pain to do right, but you can actually split and then link your two front two speaker channels, and wire it to ONE front speaker. You know, under the dash. I stuck a 5X7 kenwood in there in my 69, it balanced things out...

    Kick Panel Speaker Fix: I've done this, my friend invented the method, and it works BEAUTIFULLY. I'm assuming you have the standard catalog-ordered 6.5 speaker kickpanels. Measure and mount a ring of 3/4 inch MDF on the outside of the kickpanel, then fiberglass it smooth with the panel...

    My 66 has been laughing at me

    my 69 laughed at me when I put the clutch disc in backwards.... and then decided I didn't wanna drop the tranny all the way to switch it, so just backed the tranny out and held it up with my head. Yeha, there was laughter. :D

    The speaker-ready kickpanels will NOT, in stock form, handle very good (large-magnet) speakers. However... they are REALLY easy to modify. A little spacer ring of wood and some fiberglass, you're good to go. My friend managed to get MBQuart PCEs in there. For rears... on a vert, I dunno...
