    Yet Another Exhaust Thread

Love my flowmaster 40's, they definately turn heads before people even see the car coming. Yes they are droney, but I tolerate it. They sound downright nasty (in a good way) at 6000RPM

Do these compression test results seem low to you?

I held the throttle open, didn't think to ground the coil though, I just pulled the lead off.

Do these compression test results seem low to you?

C4, 3.55's and powertrax locker. My best time at the track so far was a 14.9@88 :(

Power steering cylinder leaks (ram) when full right

FYI, I found out the hard way that different cars from that era had different ram lengths. The parts shop sold me the wrong one (too short) even though it was the right one according to their computer.

Do these compression test results seem low to you?

Hi Stangnet! After a 2 year hiatus from my Mustang (Moved, got married, yada yada...) I'm finally back in the saddle again. I figured that I would start off this summer by doing a compression test on my motor (I had never done one on my car before). I did the test about an hour after...

    Should I add Power Steering?

I agree the extra parts for power steering can be a P.I.T.A, are more expensive and prone to leaking. I experienced this first hand the first time when my hoses went on me, then again when the ram started leaking. When the ram went I got a replacement which was incorrect (too short) so I...

Ping Ping Ping - Timing Issues, What are you running?

I'm running an Edelbrock RPM pump, and I just upgraded my lines to -6 AN last year. I have a Autometer gauge on the inlet to the carb, it's a good 6.5psi at idle. I'm going to try upping the jet sizes this weekend, I'll let you know how that goes. It's hard to believe that it would be...

Ping Ping Ping - Timing Issues, What are you running?

Thanks for the replies guys, Overheating: I don't think I am, I am running a Griffin 2x1.25" tube rad which should be overkill for my motor. I have a 180deg RobertShaw T-Stat. When I drive on the highway, the temp gauge barely gets above the "C". Rapid: I hear the pinging when I'm in...

Ping Ping Ping - Timing Issues, What are you running?

Hey classic people! It has been a while since the last time I've posted here, and I need some help. A few years back, I did AFR heads (165's with 61cc chambers), Air Gap RPM intake, Demon 650 vac., Comp XE262 cam, and MSD pro billet distributor. Since then I could never seem to get the...

    Recommend me a camshaft

The equipment used to test and design cam profiles is a lot better now than it was 20 years ago. They have software that can model airflow a lot more accurately. I'm not talking about custom cam grinders, I'm talking about new cam profiles in general.

    1970 Mach 1 4-spd into 68 coupe, easy fit?

Hey Stangnet, My '68 Coupe currently has a C4 which is no fun. My uncle has a '70 Mach 1 with a 351C and 4 speed toploader. He is willing to give me his toploader and bellhousing because he wants to upgrade. The question is, would this be an easy fit into my car? Will the driveshaft...

    Flexible Rad & Heater Hoses

    Flexible Rad & Heater Hoses

Hi guys, I want to oust the crappy rubber hoses for something a little more durable and better looking. What are the best flexible rad & heater hoses on the market? I have been looking at the Coolflex brand, they claim to be seamless copper: http://www.coolflex.com/cfm/welcome.cfm...

Just because you have never seen it, doesn't mean it didn't happen. It has obviously been documented as happening before.

How much power can an 8" really take ?

8" here with Powertrax No-Slip Locker and 3.55's... Motor mods in sig... Lots of hard driving... So far it's held up... *Knocks on wood* Funny thing is that I have a 9" housing and 3rd member in the garage, but after finding out it had a cracked diff casing, and pricing out...

Help, can't get C4 trans pan to seal

I am having the same problem as well. My pan started leaking, I replaced the gasket 3 times, the last time I bought a new B&M cast aluminum pan which is really thick and will not warp, but still get leaking. I am now certain the fluid it is coming from my front pump, dripping down and...

    Traction options for 8"

Well you do have a lot of options. Detroit True-Trac (Torsion) Trac-Lok (Limited Slip) Auburn (Limited Slip) Powertrax (Locker) Detroit Locker Limited slip and True-Trac are the most streetable. Limited slip will wear over time. Lockers won't wear and put the power to the ground the...

Black Valve Covers: Yes or NO?

I wish I had gone black, my polished aluminum ones are only 2 years old and already starting to look like crap, especially after I pull the car out from hibernation in the spring.
