    69 Mach 1 center console

Got the new Mustangs Unlimited catalog yesterday and noticed that someone has started reproducing the console for the 69 Mach 1. Price was $379 I think. Has anyone bought one of these? I’m wondering about the quality and accuracy of the reproduction. Mine is cracked in two or three spots...

BOSS 302 - How could you let it get like this?

I think that car has been on eBay before, maybe a year ago maybe more. The extra tail lights and the pic of the engine without the carb reminds me of another auction. I want to say it was a Boss 302 but maybe not. That thing is rusted bigtime. 10K for a title/vin is what the high bidder is...

Got an estimate for bodywork, what do you think?

6-12 hours the cowl seems high to me because of that fact on a 69, it unbolts. No spot welds to drill out. Tim

crank pilot question on a 1969 C6 tranny

It’s my understanding there are two Crank Pilot Diameter, 1.375 and 1.850. I know the 1.850 is for the big blocks because I bought one last year. My guess is the 1.375 is for all other Ford applications. Summit sells TCI’s in both sizes. Here is the link...

    Engine Removal

Once you are ready to remove the engine, take it easy separating the flywheel from the torque converter. You want to move the engine forward to clear the torque converter studs. If the converter comes off with the motor, it will dump ATF all over the place. Worse yet, you could cause damage...

Startup after rebuild - oil pressure off the dial...

Does the gauge move when you just turn the key on? If it maxes out when just the key is on, it's a grounding issue for sure. Tim

    69 center console gauge cage?

Got mine at mustangs unlimited for $25 I had to modify it just a bit which is to say I had to trim the back to make it fit correctly. I also opened up the mounting holes so it sits just a tad lower and now none of my temp controls hit the gauges. Tim

    Help me estimate the value!

It’s over priced IMO. I bought a 69 Mach 1 390 with C6 same condition as this car just three years ago and paid $16K My car don’t have the Mag 500’s ($600) or the louvers ($600) or the AC ($??????) but everything else is there but for the original air cleaner which this car don’t have...

How to use Jeg's overflow tank?

I added this one to my Bronco and it worked great. I'm thinking of adding on to the Mach 1 to. http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/ItemBrowse/c-10101/s-10101/p-100000221247/mediaCode-ZX/appId-100000221247/Pr-p_CATENTRY_ID:100000221247 There is also a smaller one...

How to use Jeg's overflow tank?

At the risk of getting slammed, I’ll tell you what I know. When you say empties the radiator, do you mean ore or less than a quart? More and it’s a head gasket, less I would say is normal. Putting on an overflow radiator tank is easy and really has no cons. All cars have them now(that I...

    AUTOZONE Engines

mustangdave, All true. That's why I said "Complete to me means it would have heads and a intake". I do think summit sells some SBC with intakes but I'm not sure. $1400 for a long block 390 is not a bad but I would have to know what parts are being used before I would buy it. I used good...

    AUTOZONE Engines

I bet that's a short block and not a "complete" 390. Complete to me means it would have heads and a intake. I built my 390 short block for about the same price. Tim

    Build up ideas. 69 fastback, 390FE w/ T-5

I would stick with the 390 for obvious reasons (I have one). Good used 390 blocks go for $150 to $200 where I’m at. You can build a short block for $1400 to $1500 using good parts. After that, add Ebrock RPM heads intake and water pump another $1500 and the 390 will be about the same weight...

    Build up ideas. 69 fastback, 390FE w/ T-5

You can spend money quick on an FE build. I ended up spending 6K but I replaced everything from the radiator to torque converter. I reused my block, rods, crank, headers and PS pump(which was new). 390 block .040 over decked to zero oiling mods (chamfered oil feed holes) Standard 390...

    Air compressor advise

It all depends on what you plan to do with it. I bought a craftsman 33gal 5hp three years ago on sale for $279. The only things it has trouble running are cutoff wheels, sanders, routers and such. Those things use lots of air at 90psi. The 33gal tank can’t keep up. I mean you can use them...
