New '20 GT, doesn't spin the tires, normal?

Thanks, I tried that today. I have forgotten about that feature, advanced trac off. Still doesn't spin the tires flooring it from a slow roll. It does feel like it pulls harder though. Its a PITA to turn off all of this nanny stuff every time you start the car. It goes like hell though! Thanks...

New '20 GT, doesn't spin the tires, normal?

1st gear, let out clutch and roll about 5mph, then floor it. Track mode, launch control off. No wheel spin? What is wrong with this thing? My old 88 notch would have smoked the tires and gone nowhere, and it was close to bone stock. These sure are different. Maybe it is the awesome 235 wide tires...

    changing the quadrant

This job can be a nightmare if you dont follow protocol. Bend that metal brace (dash support) that is in the way. The pawl will slide right off then. I stuck a pipe through the clutch cable hole in the firewall from the engine side and provided a little clearance. Be careful not to bend the...

going back to mechanical fan, stock clutch type or straight mechanical??

I will never go back. I have a taurus fan and DC controller. I actually had overheating problems at idle with a good clutch fan. I have a spare taurus fan JIC I ever need it, I have been picking them up at U-pull-it yards for $25. YMMV.

    The Drone stops here.

I have seen constant threads here over the years on how to stop the drone. Most want good sound without the annoying drone at a steady speed. This is a pic of the underside of a 2003 GT with 1 chamber flows installed. This view is from right behind the passenger rear tire, up on front of...

    Smoking

If they are the stock valve cover gaskets, dont make the mistake of throwing them away if they are not damaged. Just clean them up and re-use them. They will be metal, covered in rubber if they are stock. Keep them, they are the best. Install a new PCV valve and a new screen (under it) while...

    5.0 Upper Intake Bolts ??

Be sure to grab some flat washers if you do it that way, or if you get bolts with no flange. The long bolts measure 6 1/4" overall length, and the short ones are 2" overall. As stated you need 4 short and 2 long.

    Idle Air Adjuster Plate???

It does nothing on my car, it didnt help at all. It is supposed to allow you to manually meter the idle air, like a carb setup.

    oil pressure drop help

He is running a manual guage, since he said it has plastic tubing. It has no sending unit at all. You could verify it with another guage and new plastic line. The engine should be making noise if its really got no oil pressure at idle.

cold start, good idle.....warm start, no idle

My car has that problem as well. Its an 88 SD car mostly stock. I used the correct idle setting proceedure from alldata.com and it fixed the problem until my battery died 2yrs later. The surge returned, and I tried the same proceedure many times, but it wont go away. I have done everything short...

    Gas tank leak...

At first I thought mine was leaking from the filler neck grommet. Upon further inspection, I found that it was seaping out of the seam where the two halves of the tank are welded together (if you dare call that welding). I had to replace the tank.

Best way to clean aluminum engine acc. Brackets?

Sandpaper will get them clean. Muriatic acid will clean it well, but the fumes are poisonous, they can kill you!

cant get bolts off that hold driveshaft to rearend

I used my foot to turn the wrench, no problem then. The wrench has to fit real good. Grab on to some part of the car and push with your foot. Just use stands and wheel chocks so you dont become thinner.

    Please help with header install!

Friends should not let friends own that junk. A 4' johnson bar will come in handy to install those. And keep the BFH on stand-by it they dont clear as stated above. This reminds me of the old midas commercials. You have to make it fit.

    Stiff Shifter Dilemma..clutch? cable? shifter?

There should be preload on that cable, no slack. The clutch pedal should come up off the floor a couple inches before you start to feel the clutch engage with the trans in gear. This means that the clutch disc is dis-engaging the flywheel completely when the pedal is mashed to the floor. You...

Fuel Pump Orlando guys come in.

That is cool. Stangers helping one another out, hands on. Its a good idea to have a filler neck grommet on hand when you pull the tank. They are pricey at $20 or so at your local ford or mercury dealer. Call first, ford didnt help me, mercury did. I was lucky I had that part on hand, you can...

    Leaking water

Is water running out of a spot that you can clearly see? If not is it puddling on top of the timing cover, and leaking very slowly? If that is the case I have two 302's leaking there right now. The trick is to drain out some of the water, dry it up, and plug the two holes in the back of...
