    351W Longtube Headers with C4?

Hey guys, I searched for a bit, but was not able to obtain a clear answer. I have a friend with a 418W based 351W stroker and he wants to switch to longtubes for his setup. I'm aware of the 1 3/4" Hooker and BBK options, but it seems that they state they only fit around the bellhousing of the...

    2003 Explorer ECM Question?

Thanks for the reply, I even posted this on one of the exclusive Explorer forums on the internet and never got a reply. That is what I thought myself, as long as it is the same exact year, engine, drivetrain, 4 door, non-Sport Trac, non-California based ECU, etc. I don't see how it is...

    2003 Explorer ECM Question?

Yeah, I went to that site as a first resort to begin with, and resulted with 3U7A and 3L2A being the leaders in the PCM market for the 2003 Explorer 4.0l. Basically, if they interchange it won't matter, but I haven't been worried about much of an ECM swap since the days of the A9P and A9L days...

    2003 Explorer ECM Question?

Hey guys, I know a few on here work at Ford dealerships as technicians, so I had a quick off topic question. My stepfather owns a 2003 Ford Explorer (Base 4door, 4x4, 4.0l V6, AT, non-Sport Trac). Long story short, one morning it decided not to crank whatsoever yet all the instrument cluster...

    Changing out Starter, any tips?

It's actually not as hard as you think. To make it simple to get to the top bolt, just take off your front passenger wheel, get a couple feet of extensions, and a swivel socket, it becomes cake.

    new motor wont start

yeah i had the same issue when i did my 4 cyl - 8 cyl conversion, and at first it was the fuel pressure that was a problem, but it would still "pop", so definitely check your timing if you're sure that you're receiving spark and fuel...

    the 5.0 is a 4.6????

yeah the guy got mixed up, the 302 motor is technically a 4.9l, but ford did "call" it a 5.0 to not mix it up with the 4.9l inline 6 motor offered in the trucks at the time, and yes, to make the mustang seem better. either way, yes the guy has his facts wrong considering he's confusing it with...

Bah! I think i ****ed up my lower intake install...

heh, i hear ya, yeah i'd rather take the precautionary root because it's bound to leak sometime due to the way i did it, oh well, what's the cost, a 9 dollar thing of RTV and an hour of my time... going to redo it hah! :(

Bah! I think i ****ed up my lower intake install...

yeah seems like everyone has luck with either one of the two, i ****ed up and used both haha... i think i may just save myself the hassle of doing it while its in the car and buy another tube of RTV and do it all over again without the cork gaskets. what do you guys think? i mean it looks...

Bah! I think i ****ed up my lower intake install...

yeah i'd hate to take it apart again, so i guess i'll see how it runs, i get my license back october 4th, hopefully it doesn't leak after just a couple hundred miles :(

Bah! I think i ****ed up my lower intake install...

yeah its sloppy as hell in the back but i made sure that it would be sealed, can't see the back when its in the car anyway, yeah i don't know, it's such a satisfaction knowing its all torqued down and everything, hate to do it again, but thinking about just taking the approach of using all RTV...

Bah! I think i ****ed up my lower intake install...

yeah i should be dropping this motor into the car within the week or so, but i just wanted to make sure i didn't **** up royally by using both a ton of RTV AND the cork pieces, usually people just do one or the other, which I didn't realize until i sealed the intake lol.... guess we'll find out...

Is it ok to start an engine with open headers??

yeah go ahead and start it up, with my old 89 notch i drove around for 2 months with the stock open shorties because i didn't have the money to get new headers and my new exhaust yet hah. beat the living **** out of it too while the exhaust was off, ran great once the exhaust was back on as well...
