Edelbrock E Street Heads - Any thoughts?

Windsor Jrs have a revised plug angle which makes driver side header fitment a challenge with spark plug wires. I am required to use accel shorty plugs and then I had to cut/extend and reweld 3 tubes.

    I need help on a 9in seal?

It's because they call them a "wheel seal" not an axle seal. Go into any of the chain parts stores and ask for a wheel seal and they should be able to help you out. It's my understanding that 8 and small bearing 9 inchers w/28 spline axles use the same seal. Start with a 67 289 powered car...

Leak from rear axle flange seal?

2+2GT has given a great explanation on how to do this job. Having just done this last weekend I have a couple other things to add. When you get that seal out gear oil will come out so have a bucket handy. To minimize the amount lost you can lift the front of the vehicle up higher than the...

got to buy a compressor - need your advice pls

I forgot to mention that I have 140 feet of 1 inch iron pipe in my garage attic and the compressor is in the basement. I have 2 drops with drains plus the main drain where the compressor is plugged into the system. Obviously this isn't a setup that someone renting would put in. It does remove...

got to buy a compressor - need your advice pls

I used to have one similar to the craftsman listed above and I couldn't take the noise. I paid $300 ish for it with an air ratchet. It ran all day long and would rattle your teeth loose. The DA and the cutoff wheel seemed to spend more time sitting and waiting for the compressor catchup than...

    Seat Options for 68 Vert

That's close but not 100% accurate. You are correct that the headrests were an option in 68. The headrests were actually different in 68 vs 69. The 68 headrests had 2 posts and are worth stupid money now a days. The 69 had a single post and aren't worth squat.

    Cheap Rack-in-pinion conversion

Please keep in mind that I am not bashing you. I am not an engineer. I am not a professional welder. I am just a hobbiest who lives in the land of the pothole also. In fact I am just north of you in Oswego. Every impact from those road craters will cause deflection. That deflection...

    Cheap Rack-in-pinion conversion

The welded centerlink makes me nervous. That has always been my issue with the homebrew racks. The forces imposed on that piece are tremendous and deflection is an issue that needs to be addressed. Your design plan is exactly what I was thinking of doing but the centerlink connection has me...

(I think) Timing chain issue... might explain dyno/starting/timing issues..

my point exactly. leaking fuel is the thing I would fix first in this scenario. that's just me.

(I think) Timing chain issue... might explain dyno/starting/timing issues..

Take a 5/8 wrench and remove the whole float assembly including the lock screw. When the head of lock screw is pointing down the needle should be on the seat. When the head of the lock screw is pointing up to the sky you should be able to see the tip of the needle inside the cage. If the...

(I think) Timing chain issue... might explain dyno/starting/timing issues..

The SBC uses pressure from the timing cover/cam button to position the cam. To adjust this you actually use a hammer and bang on the timing cover. What the other guy was seeing was an oil can effect on his timing cover. The SBF uses a cam retainer plate to hold the cam in position. I...

(I think) Timing chain issue... might explain dyno/starting/timing issues..

That is correct. He already tried a different dizzy and had the same results. Maybe it is the msd box? Fuel, Air, Spark. If you don't have enough or too much of any of those you have a problem. The fact is the floats are still a problem. He is leaking gas on the intake and the heads and...

(I think) Timing chain issue... might explain dyno/starting/timing issues..

+1 I am curious as to what the holley manual says. How else can you check the floats? During a rebuild you set them (ballpark only) when the bowls are off but I am guessing that isn't what happened in this case since he mentions clear sight plugs. Unless I am missing something you...

    1968 coupe purchase advice

68 6 bangers had 4 lug front and rear. They used the same drum spindles for both 6 and 8 cylinders. The rearend was a completely different setup. The 6ers used the integral carrier type and the 8 cylinders used either the common 8 inch or 9 inch rear. To get the car to v8 specs you would...

(I think) Timing chain issue... might explain dyno/starting/timing issues..

All the timing adjustments in the world won't make a bit of difference if it won't keep running because it's flooding itself. You can tweek the timing to cover up the flooding. But you will keep chasing timing issues when that isn't the true problem. It's merely a symptom. My point is that...

(I think) Timing chain issue... might explain dyno/starting/timing issues..

That is leaking gas. Someone else and myself had previously suggested stuck floats. Please check them to eliminate this. My issue was virtually identical to what you have experienced. A stuck float will allow the fuel pump to continue to fill the fuel bowl. The extra fuel has to...

    351w into a '67 w/ manual trans

look for headers that fit a 69 with a 351 windsor and a manual. Both hedman 88300 and hooker 6208 supposedly fit. I have 88300 and they required mods for a cable clutch but they looked like the z bar would have fit.

    Wut mufflers??

Your cam will play a big role in this. I have a 351w with a 5.0 roller cam in it. No lope and very docile at idle. Long tubes going into cherry bomb glasspacks and exiting in front of the rear wheel. At idle it is very quiet. When the loud pedal is down the whole world can hear ya...

Need Help w/ Sound Insulation for '65 Coupe

At the store they had a demonstration of dynamat extreme. There were 2 bells. One had a piece of dynamat 1 inch by 1 inch stuck to the bell. The bell would not ring it was a mere thud. The bell without the dynamat of course rang as normal. So yes I believe that it isn't necessary to cover...
