    New Engine Woes *please help*

I had the exact same thing happen to my Mallory VI AL ignition that I had on my truck. would only pop and bang out the exhaust, no start. switched back to stock ignition and no problems since.

EFI DIZZY DOES WORK WITH CARB! Now I have 2 much fuel pressure

I am using a Walbro 155 pump and Mallory regulator and can't get my fuel pressure any lower than 11 pounds at idle but it does drop to about 9 pounds when I am on the gas and haven't had any problems with it like that. Unless your floats are sticking at 10 pounds than I wouldn't worry about the...

347 guys, whats your combo and numbers?

The 11:1 comression 331 that I am building for my LX will go on the engine dyno in a few months and we are looking for 450-500 horsepower at around 7,000-7,500rpm. I am using lightly ported/milled twisted wedge heads set up for running a solid flat-tappet cam with comp springs and titanium...

    Heads

Unless someone grinded them out they are definately there. I have a set sitting in my garage right now. They are actualy so huge that they are atached to the valve guide boss. Plus you will lose about 1 point of compression with them because of their 69cc combustion chambers. Unless you are...

    Heads

Don't waste your time with those heads. They have very large combustion chambers and EGR bumps.

Questions about Roller Rockers (Mainly TFS)

I have Comp Pro-magnum 7/16 stud 1.6's on my TFS heads with custom length pushrods and the geometry is perfect. Just make sure you use an adjustable pushrod to get the right length pushrod for whatever rockers you decide on. It is a lot cheaper to do this than have something fail later on.

ENGINE BUILDER SAYS i BETTER DO THIS!!

I say stay with 7/16 studs. I am using them on my 500 horse 11.5:1 331 and wouldn't use anything else.

    347stroker with gt-40p heads??

Port them yourself, it's easy if you have any idea of how air flows in an engine, and you don't realy need bigger valves. Also a 347 will make more power than a 302 basicaly everywere, not just bottom end as long as you run the proper camshaft to support it.

whats the difference between power shifting and just shifting fast?

Yes powershifting will beat up your trans and clutch. NO I will never stop powershifting my car every time I get on it. :D I exploded my stock clutch 2,000 miles after I bought my car at maple grove because I powershifted 5 runs in a row in 20 min. Another 2,000 miles later I just...

    347stroker with gt-40p heads??

I would say it would be a good running motor if you do a little porting on the exhaust side and use a decent cam. Not a race motor, but a good street motor. You don't need huge heads to make good power, just a good combination.

Who has the highest spinning 302 (or stroked 302)?

why not build a stroker and rev it to 7,500 or more like me. My motor should be making about 500hp on the dyno in a month or two and I will be shiffting it around 7,500. My solid flat-tappet cam also sounds just like thumper mentioned with 250/254 dur. @ .050, .592/.608 lift, 106...

    Best Long tubes

I just installed Mac's on my 2000 and they fit great, and no leaks at all with a Trubenz X-pipe. The best thing about them is the price, I got mine for 330 shipped, and the x pipe for 160 shipped.

question about breaking a new car in...

If metal actualy touched metal in an angine it would sieze. That is what happens when clearances are too tight or you run out of oil, there is metal to metal contact and the motor siezes. If a motor could run with actual metal to metal contact than why do we need oil?

question about breaking a new car in...

You have to beat the piss out of a motor when it is breaking in in order to get proper ring seal. The best way to break a new motor in is to run it down the track or run it on an engine dyno. The only time you might want to "baby" it is when a flat-tappet cam is used. Then you need to keep...

    launch...

I do the same exact thing except I do not let off the gas and I get consistent 1.95-2.05 60' times with my 245/45-17 sumitomos.

    Port 2001 MAF?

Just went out to my garage and checked and it definately looks like my mass air was ported by the previous owner. I can say that the car has always run great since I bought it about 6 months ago. If mine wasn't ported out already I would do it to mine. :nice:

    Port 2001 MAF?

hmmm... maybe I will have to take a closer look at it. maybe the previouse owner ported it or something because it is just plane black plastic and looks OEM.

    3/8 or 1/2 Extension Bar/Swivel for X-Pipe Install?

I used a 1/2" wrench, extentions, and swivel to a 1/2-3/8 adapter and a 6 point deep wall 15mm 3/8 drive socket. Any other combination = :( :bang:

    Port 2001 MAF?

My 2000 doesn't have a piece running through the middle. It just has a small tube simular to the 75mm Pro-M that was on my 87 GT. Did they change them or do I have a different meter then stock?

    Cam and Intake

I agree with Thumper, Just put better valve spring on while you change the cam and intake.
