wood grain shifter knob

Wow. Didn't realize they were that hard to find. I got one with my '72 and absolutely love it! It's very sexy Imo. I found this guy on eBay: http://myworld.ebay.com/ebaymotors/teakhouse/ It looks like he makes custom shift knobs. From what I understand you would just need to tell him what...

72 engine and tranny swap question

Was plodding around the bone yard this weekend and I found an '89 F150 (two wheel drive) with a 4 speed manual tranny. Would this be a good fit for my '72? If I did get it, what parts would I need? Obvi the tranny itself. I'm thinking also cross-member, but would I need the driveshaft...

72 engine and tranny swap question

That last part is one of the main reasons I want a stock 302. 99hp is pretty pathetic. Are there any 5-speeds that I wouldn't have to change the linkage for? Would a 4-speed be an easier swap?

    Value on a 65 200 and 3 speed

I agree. I'd be surprised if you get $300 for the combo. Most likely it will be somebody doing a restoration, which these days is pretty rare to find.

    Your thoughts--local craigslist

Sounds like a decent price. The cam and lifters are/were about $130 new (crane went out of business.) The intake retails for $240. Figure a core price on a block is about $150. You're already sitting at $420. That's not counting the distributor fuel pump or headers. Easily over $500.

72 engine and tranny swap question

I want to upgrade my '72. It has the stock 250 inline six with a 3 speed manual transmission. I don't want to do anything too crazy. Planning on just a stock or mild 302. I do want to upgrade the transmission though. Again, sort of a budget build so it will more than likely be a stock 5...

need help with my 1st car

I work at competition products. Our tech guys are very knowledgable. If you like, give them a call at 1-800-233-0199. You don't have to buy anything. Just tell them what you have and what you want to do with it, and they'll be able to make some suggestions on what parts would work nicely for...

    71-73 color questions

Okay, trying to restore my girl a little bit and I need some info. Under the hood: Strut tower braces and hood latch assembly. I would assume black, but mine have a blueish tint to them. Some sort of slurry color? Not sure. Also: On the back of the car, the black piece between the tail...

need interior shots of a 71-73 Hardtop

Thanks for the great photo. I'm pretty sure the way my car was optioned that I didn't have the light. As far as under the hood, my main concerns are the strut tower braces and the hood latch. My appear to be some shade of blue. I'm not really sure, but they definitely don't look like they...

need interior shots of a 71-73 Hardtop

Cool man, thanks. I wasn't sure about the light. I've seen some with just a plate made of plastic. It looked correct enough, but at the same time it could have been home made. Any idea about the colors under the hood?

need interior shots of a 71-73 Hardtop

Are you talking about the rear dash area, or the spot above the cubby? Here are some pics of the spots I'm talking about:
<img...

need interior shots of a 71-73 Hardtop

I just bought a '72 hardtop last week. It's in really good shape, but does have it's problems. Right now I'm trying to get the interior correct. The rear dash is missing something. It's just a cardboard shelf. I'm not sure if there is a pad of some sort that goes on top of it? Also, in the...

    Can this be done

The guy building it for him wants to use the 5.1 pistons too. More power all around. I'm thinking it's not really worth it, even if it could be done. The cylinder walls would probably be paper thin after that.

    Can this be done

My friend wants to throw a stroker kit in his Lincoln MVIII. Can the 4.6L 32V be bored .073 over to make it a 5.1L?

    advice needed for 350 swap

Thank you to all of you who have helped. As for my first comments, that was meant merely as a disclaimer against unproductive comments. There were a few other posts like this and 95 percent of the replies were: you're stupid, you're retarded, why would you do that. Nothing productive or...

    Looking for 350 swap advice

Now, before all of the un-educated flames start flying, I just want to say a few things. We all love Mustangs, we wouldn't be here if we didn't. Mustangs are cars. Cars break. Not everybody can afford or has the resources to fix them with the 'appropriate' parts. So instead of letting these...

    advice needed for 350 swap

Honestly, because the 4 cylinder guys on here are usually the most open minded. And just because they currently own and work on the 2.3L doesn't mean it's all they've ever played with. I figured I give this a shot (however far fetched) and then try the other boards and sort through all the...

    selling my turbo set-up

I might be getting a good deal on another project car so I'm going to be selling my turbo set-up. I've got one complete block, one bare block w/crank and pistons. I've got 3 ecms (have to check on what ones they are.) Wiring harness. I've got an A4ld that could use a rebuild and a T-5 that...
