    Power Steering Fluid Spraying Everywhere

After 13 years of restoring my '65 coupe, I am now trying to work out all the bugs. The car has a late model 302 stoked 347 with a March Pulley setup, new power steering pump and the original / rebuilt power steering assembly. The power steering assembly comes pretty close to the headers. We...

    Hydraulic Clutch Problems

I had to go with a cable clutch or hydraulic clutch due to my headers. Since I heard many reports of headers causing the cable to snap in a cable clutch setup I went with the hydraulic clutch. Back to the point at hand... It seems that we go the preload adjusted properly as we could shift...

    Yet Another Exhaust Thread

I ended up going with the Magnaflow 2.5" stainless steel kit for car. I couldn't pass up the price of $370 shipped. I don't have the exhaust on the car yet so I am not sure how she will sound. I hope that I am happy with the purchase. I figure if I don't like the way it sounds then at a...

I have been asking questions and reading about tires for my '65 coupe and now I need some help making my final selection. The car is powered by a 347 putting out about 425 HP. The rims are 17x7 so I am going with a 225/45/17 tire. The car will only be drove during the summer on nice and...

I am looking to purchase a new exhaust system within the next few days and would like some feedback. I can get the Flowmaster or Magnaflow stainless kit for about $380 delivered. For what it's worth, I am running a 347 in my '65 coupe. I would like to hear your comments on these kits and...

    Tire Recommendations

The new rims for my '65 coupe should be in this week. The rims are 17x7 and I am looking for some tire recommendations. The car will be street drivin' 99.99% of the time but since the car is powered by a 347 I would like the tires to grab the pavement well. However, I the tire also needs to...

    Speedhut Gauges/Tachs???

I got the bezel from Mustangs Unlimited. I believe it was around $90 or so. The quality of the bezel is pretty cheap and I was a bit surprised it cost $90. However, it does the job and doesn't look too bad once it is installed. I searched around for a long time trying to find a 6-gauge...

Air Cleaner Clearance Issue with Export Brace and Maybe the Hood

The transmission is in the car. The tranny is a Tremec TKO 5-speed. The transmission actually fits very well in the car the the shifter is mounted dead center to the factory hole in the floor. Looking at the second picture that 2+2GT posted, I don't believe that my air cleaner sits that...

Should I use Tri-Y Headers on my 347?

PoppyMod, Here are the pics you wanted. My uncle did the install and he said that the headers went in very smooth. He was able to install them with the motor in the car but had to jack up the motor on the drivers side slightly to get the header in. The fit perfectly right into place and...

Air Cleaner Clearance Issue with Export Brace and Maybe the Hood

Well, warm weather is starting to approach here in Northwestern PA and I am getting anxious to finally get my '65 on the road. After all, it has only been over a decade since this project began! My uncle got the motor dropped into the car late last week and got everything pretty much wired...

Should I use Tri-Y Headers on my 347?

I ended up purchasing Doug's Tri-Ys after reading all the responses from the members here and on another forum where I posted the same question. I am using a hydraulic clutch so I purchased the headers for an automatic since I didn't need to worry about clearing the Z-bar. The headers fit perfect!

Should I use Tri-Y Headers on my 347?

Just heard back from the engine builder and my 347 red lines at 6000 RPM. Since I won't be pushing very high RPMs, I think the Tri-Ys will have less of an impact on HP loss. Thoughts?

Should I use Tri-Y Headers on my 347?

    I think I have my purchase narrowed down to two options. My car will be street drivin' 99.999% of the time. 1. Doug's Headers P/N D665 - 4-1 Style 3/4 Length Header, 1 5/8" Primary, 3" Collector 2. Doug's Headers P/N D690YS - Tri-Y Style Full Length Header, 1 5/8" Primary, 2.5" Collector...

Should I use Tri-Y Headers on my 347?

After talking to a number of different resources, I will definitly be going with the 1 5/8" primaries. Now it boils down to Tri-Y or 4-1 headers. From what I am gathering since my car will be street drivin' 99.99% of the time it won't make much of a difference what type of header that I go with.

Should I use Tri-Y Headers on my 347?

Blown65, Doug Thorley's Tri-Y headers are 1 1/2" primaries. Doug's Headers Tri-Y headers are 1 5/8" primaries. I just spoke with Pertronix who manufactures Doug's Headers and he stated that you can start to feel their Tri-Y's start to drop off in HP around 5500 RPM. Doug's Headers do...
