Great info, Thanks! BTW, which master cylinder are you using?

    Opentracker LCA

I purchased the entire front suspension form OT and couldn't be happier. The roller perches contribute to a much nicer ride. The difference in handling is amazing and I still have the 46 yr old POS factory steering box. If you are keeping the stock style suspension, I would highly recommend...

289 to Explorer 5.0 Fuel Injection

I read swapping the injector wiring around was a bad idea due to the O2 sensors getting unexpected (rich or lean) readings from the cylinder banks. Basically, an injector will fire, but the O2 sensor won't see the burned fuel due to it being on the wrong bank for some of the cylinders. I'm...

289 to Explorer 5.0 Fuel Injection

Exactly what I plan on doing. I'm looking at picking up and A9L ecu (1991-1993 manual trans 5.0 mustang) and using the ONLY the explorer manifold and injectors. I will be buying a 5.0 distributor and coil to work with the ecu along with modifying (or buying) a new harness that has been...

289 to Explorer 5.0 Fuel Injection

I read that the Explorer 5.0 has a different firing order than the 289 and would run a little rough at idle due to this. The consensus seemed to be that once the rev's started to come up, the motor would run better and smooth out. I'd rather not spend a bunch of money on getting the 289 to...

289 to Explorer 5.0 Fuel Injection

I currently have a 1966 mustang with a 4spd, 289, Edelbrock 600 cfm carb, Edelbrock performer rpm intake, and hooker long tube headers, full 2.5" exhaust. Aside from this, the motor is stock and in decent condition. It does run OK but is by no means fast. Over the weekend, I received an...

Roller perches were certainly money well spent on my car and easy to install.

    Double post.

    Vacuum Advance Question

I'll try setting the timing. I have a timing light with a tach and was looking at the balancer with the timing light, but couldn't find any recognizable marks anywhere on it. I know there should be marks on it somewhere. I'll have to wire brush it and see if that helps.

    Vacuum Advance Question

I just installed an Edelbrock 1405 (600cfm) and an Edelbrock Performer RPM manifold on an otherwise stock 289. I got the car in what seems to be a good state of tune. Excellent throttle response, and no flat spots anywhere in the rpm range, and the car flat out pulls (for a stock 289 :) )...

someone bought my car and is having problems with the axle leaking oil...need info

If I bought a car off ebay the owner told me had posi and it had a spool, I'd be pretty pissed. There's no way that's streetable. I think it's admirable that you are trying to do the right thing and help the guy out.

Compression Test results...What do you think?

I agree. Don't want to spend much money on this motor as all. Maybe someone will loan me a plate NO2 system so I can send this motor out with a BANG!

Compression Test results...What do you think?

I know the compression test was done dry. What would good numbers be for a stock 289? It doesn't smoke and seems to run OK. I know the stock 2V 289 was no monster when they were brand new. If it's reliable for another year or so so I can finish the rest of the car, I'll be happy.

Compression Test results...What do you think?

I've been trying to get my stock 2v 289 running good again after many, many years of neglect. My goal here is 1, reliability and 2, decent performance. While at the mechanic, we pulled the plugs and most of them were oiled bad. I had the shop do a compression test and here are the results...

    8.8"

So if a 66 8" rear is 57.25" and an explorer is 59.50", then an explorer rear narrowed 2.5" to match the short side comes out at 57.00" It seems like this would be just about perfect. All I would need is another short side axle and I'd be set. I am currently running 17x8" wheels with 4.75"...
