Gko, go check out turboford.org The 2.3 turbo is a very fun, reliable, economical engine to run. It is at its best in fuel injected form.

    MPG question

My 1990 Mustang did great on fuel mileage after I did the 2.3T/T5 swap. I netted 30mpg on a long road trip with my brother. We went on a camping trip to an offroad park south of Indianapolis. Made it from home to destination on just 5/8 tank of fuel. That was loaded down too. I am 230...

    1992 LX Build thread!

I didn't want to read through the whole thread again but I think I know that 3 wire plug you are questioning. I did my automatic to manual swap the other day and that should be the plug that goes to the brake lockout for the automatic transmission. There was a cable from your ignition switch...

    idle + oil issue

Okay it sounds like you have your compression test done. Each spark plug pair goes to the same cylinder so no need to do it again. Now you add the figures together (110+140+140+150=540) and divide by 4 (540/4=135) now you multiply to get 15% of 135. (135x0.15=20.25). Your compression...

What happened to the 2.3 Stangs?

I have taken a 2.3L sabbatical. I did the turbo and T5 swap on my 1990 but quit working on it because of the rust it had. I came back to the forum to notice that it is dead too. I am glad to see some familiar names on the boards here but it looks like Stinger and Bhuff are absent. I am also...

where to buy manual steering rack?

Just an FYI on this one. I looked up a manual rack for an 87 Stang and it was there. It is actually a bit more expensive than the power steering rack. Cost for a Remanufactured PS rack was about $100 and cost for a remanufactured Manual rack was about $130. Input shaft sizes were...

where to buy manual steering rack?

I have been working at a parts store for the past year and some and I have been looking at this dilemma myself. I did not think the 87 was availiable without power steering. I did find for a 1982 but it more expensive to get the manual rack than the power rack by a factor of about 3 I...

    Mulling over the swap

these engines are only supposed to have about 8:1 compression in stock form. My engine builder cc'd everything, including the head gasket and figured that it was only about 7.5:1 compression.

Camshaft selection for 2.3L NA in lightweight car

I am using presently a c o m p Cams 268H. Put it in this summer under the advice of our engine builder at work. According to my super scientifically accurate Butt Dyno 9000, I sacrificed a bit of low end grunt for some significant gains in the mid and upper range of RPMs. No more brick wall...

Has anyone used Seafoam on their 5.0?

I like it for detecting exhaust system leaks. I was using it on my 2.3 TurboStang and found several leaks that added to my turbo woes. Tried it on my Thunderbird 5.0 and found no results.

guys with no coolant hose to egr spacer HELP!

I doubt very seriously that that is enough meat there to thread or tap. Two options here: Braze the SOB shut. -or- Find a piece of soft copper line that somewhat mimics the shape of your hard line there, flare the ends and call it permanent.

    Thunderbird's First Flight

If I remember what I read before, the BOSS engine is kind of a "Clevor" with the Windsor bottom end and Cleveland 4v heads, large bore short stroke design. I could be entirely wrong and screwed up though. It's rare that that happens, but not unheard of.

    Thunderbird's First Flight

I will try to get pics up soon. I know how to use the camera but my brother knows how to put them on teh intraweb. Yours is nice, the leather interior looks healthy as well. mine has a dirty grey cloth interior. I will fix the dirty part soon. Mine has rear drums, which sucks, but I...

The sight of these wheels make me want to puke!

I had a set of those on my Stang before. They were old and hard compound so they let my car slide around like a Dukes of Hazard stunt car. but still had 50% tread. The tire measurements were 220-55R390. 390mm is the rim size. 390mm/25.4mm = 15.3inches All the shops told me that a tire...
