Im thinking this is a Holley 4160 series since it doesnt have a rear metering block, but all the other 4160 carbs i have seen have a choke on them. The number i found on the carb haven't been much help. I know its a 750 cfm just trying to figure out what model it is.

Check your coil wire, it might br bad. SOunds like a odd situation which in my experiance it normally something simple.

I spent money on getting my 289 4V heads reworked and did notice a difference, but i wish i would have just waited and saved my money to buy some aluminum heads.

Why not trim down the shroud on the taurus fan? I had to do that to make it fit in my car. It was still a very close fit but if it fit in mine im sure you could do it also. I have a BDS blower and 4" between the belt and radiator and it fits.

It wasnt easy to do but in the end it was worth it. The reason i did it was because of a short that i could not find. I got tired of starting my car by jumping the solenoid, so i took it all out. When you have almost 30 year old wiring your asking for problems.

Another vote for stock, plus its cheaper.

Get the strips painted i think they look better.
