So many problems, so litttle money. HELP!

Usually the symptom of a bad IAC is a car that won't hold idle at all...starts and dies. And if I recall correctly, the shop manual indicates that the IAC should not be cleaned as it is coated with some special sludge. Besides, cleaning it doesn't work, as you've discovered. If it's bad, just...

Vibration felt throughout whole car after 410's

Jerry Wroblewski writes that noise/vibration becomes an issue with 3.73's or lower (numerically higher) and that an aluminum driveshaft is the cure. http://www.tccoa.com/articles/tranny/transmission/index.shtml see Chapter 17 - Critical Driveline speed

    New vert fill me in!

It's a very common problem as a search for 'IAC' on this and other Mustang boards should reveal. I'm on my SECOND '99 automatic convertible GT and both had that IAC valve problem. But I wouldn't expect it to manifest itself until you get over 40K miles on it. It just has to be changed when the...

    HELP! Stripped brake caliper bolt!

I decide to try my hand at installing the upgrade to front cobra calipers myself. Somehow I managed to strip one of the passenger side caliper mounting bolts. Those things were REALLY torqued on there tight! What can I do to get the bolt off? Is Liquid Wrench any better/different than WD-40?

For those of you who have done the Jerry mod

:stupid: I'd LOVE firmer shifts but I really don't want to attempt this myself. Is anybody still doing the mod for money by mail or anything? You think I could convince the tranny shop down the street from me to do it and charge for labor only? What would be a fair price to pay?

KYB struts plus D&D coilover kit?

I bought a set of KYB adjustable foxbody struts to help get rid of the 4x4 look on my vert. But now I see that the D&D tubular k-member + coil-over kit can be had for $620 shipped on Ebay. Anybody know if the KYB's will work with the D&D coil-over kit? Or do these coil-over kits require...

    IAC idle problem....need help FAST!!!!!

I'm on my second '99 GT which had this problem. The Ford shop manual indicates that the IAC SHOULD NOT be cleaned as it is coated with a special sludge. As you discovered, cleaning it doesn't work or only works temporarily. You have to replace the IAC. It may be cheaper from an auto parts place...

Lowering Car with H&R SS, need C/C PLATES?

$120 huh? I was quoted $200 for the installation of my H&R's plus KYB foxbody struts and '99+ shocks. Maybe I ought to shop around a little more for an installer. I've ordered the Maximum Motorsports 4 bolt CC plates. As soon as the CC plates arrive I'll be ready. Btw, I have half a mind to...

I got my Cobra 13" front brakes and new AC gauges today!!!

Thanks for this post! I already knew my brakes were shot and I went to Midas today specifically to see how much they would try to ream me. They quoted me $415 just to replace the front rotors and pads and to flush/replace the brake fluid. I'll be getting that front cobra kit from...

    Stock brakes = teh lose

I'm shopping for brakes myself because mine have gone south. I'll admit that for 'normal' driving the stock brakes work just fine. But who drives a GT 'normal'? So now I'm looking to upgrade. Another curious thing is that I keep having dreams about driving my Mustang and the brakes fail.

I'm trying to get the following parts installed all at once in hopes of saving money on the labor costs. I hope it can all be completed in a day. What's a ball park estimate on a reasonable amount to pay? KYB AGX adjustable shocks & struts Maximum Motorsports Caster Camber plates H&R...

Tired of Tires? 295/35/18 Which brand?

What brand tire to get in 295/35/18 for a 9" wide rim? Car is driven daily. My most important criteria are: 1. tread life (because I hate buying tires) 2. dry traction (it rarely rains in my part of So. Cal) Assume money is no object. (yeah, right.)

    Sidepipe Q's

The CDC side exhaust kit is a catback system. It bolts on from the H-pipe back...so MIL's or cats are not affected by this kit. I chose to replace my stock h-pipe with the MRT Stainless Steel catted H-pipe because the stock h-pipe had 6 cats! The MRT only has 2 cats. :nice: No MIL...
