People can put together a single turbo kit for $1400ish, especially if you're blow-thru carb'd instead of EFI.
As for that turbo for running 9s, a T70 would do the job, a GT45 would do the job, a 91mm, etc. T70 (the smallest of the ones I just listed) is good for 830ish hp.
I wish I got in on that group purchase, but my T70 should be here in a few weeks, the postal service finally returned my money order (they apparently can't read English, cause they returned it due to "insufficient address information" so I sent it out again today)
Here's something simple. Buy a T70 with a .68 turbine housing for a stock engine, you put in a 331 with AFR 185 heads so you put a .8x or .9x exhaust housing on it, it's THAT simple. It will take about 10 minutes and $150 to change what you need, it's basically that simple :)
Oh, for times I'm wanting to run 6s on drag radials in the 1/8 mile, and 10s in the 1/4. This certainly won't be right off as my drivetrain needs upgrading and I need to weld in a 10-12 point rollbar w/ swing-outs. :)
lag is basically a myth. I rode in a friend's GN and was LOOKING for lag and couldn't find any (stall, 3 1/2 downpipe, upgraded fuel, etc). "Lag" is so overplayed!
Thanks, Koine Greek (i.e.-Biblical Greek) and Hebrew are just some hobbies, and I'll get more into them as I progress through college and seminary. The Word of God is just so awesome and deep! :flag:
21 :)
I was close to buying a Vortech myself, I would have enjoyed it no doubt, but this way I'm saving SO much money. But, I gotta go to bed! Gotta get up at 3:15am :(
Ok, yes, price is an issue, but I know some people/companies are working on that :) Another problem is waiting 3 stinking months for something I can make in a few days if all the parts are there. There are a lot of problems with turbo companies, and hopefully feedback in this thread will let...
To me the installation isn't that difficult. With a SCer, you have to mess around with changing/moving the accessories, etc. For both you have to tap the pan (in most cases), you have to get your hands dirty, etc. for both.
It's a play on words because in every magazine I still see tons of SCer stuff, on boards I see, "What SCer?" etc. I wish I had known about them when I first started, but I was disallusioned by all of the "set backs."
Please name the set backs/cons of them  And if you haven't noticed...
Yeah, mine is so troublesome, when I first got it, I had to like put gas in it, and then I to put change the oil in it every few thousand miles, man, what an upkeeper  :D
Any car will have problems, so don't blame it on Ford :D
