Is a Cobra intake too restrictive?

No ****, and not to mention that its IMPOSSIBLE to educate yourself without listening to experts.... Unless you have your own dyno and 3 days to dyno test all the intakes you are considering..... Unless he meant "educate yourself" to mean listening to anonymous "experts" on internet...

Where did everybody go? Part 2

Originally, this section was VERY busy 3 or so years ago. Then the Hitler moderation drove most of us over to "Performance Shop", from where after initial promises of leniency, a lot of people left to go to places like Ford Power, Beyond, Mustang Canada etc etc.... I think I haven't posted...

    This gay mass air stuff...

Ok.... First thing is SD has NO way of knowing you have increased airflow into the motor at a given manifold pressure. So, your fueling will be way off. Guys doing heads/intake/cam will be LEAN at heavy and WOT. At the same instance, idle and light throttle will get rich because at idle...

    This gay mass air stuff...

The only thing that really upsets a SD car is camshafts.... I would do heads/intake/blower/turbo/nitrous...

Is There a New Dyno Standard?

I can tune a Honda Civic today, and with SAE correction, the guy can come back a year or so later, and get within 1 hp of his old numbers.... been there, done that. Same day, run to run, my MD250 with some care will repeat to under 1 hp.... Only works really with NA cars, boosted cars are...

Is There a New Dyno Standard?

Newbies.... I have a $5000 wager for ya. I bet whatever tune you come up with street tuning for 2 weeks, I can improve in on the dyno in 1 hour. Here.... tell me..... how do you think street tuning would work on this 1200 hp Mustang?? (It's run 8.1 at 177mph).... tuned in less then 4...

Tweecer Tuning A Mild Boost Setup- Help

You are gonna hav troubles with the FMU. I would get rid of it and get 30# or bigger injectors. Don't need a maf transfer for the C&L.... just multiply the stock transfer by the ratio 19# injectors tio whatever the C&L is calibrated to (tube wise)...close enough, you can fine tune from...

Is There a New Dyno Standard?

So is a Mustang Dyno... (real laod that is) I tuned on Dynojets for 3 years, and have now had my MD250 for 3 years.... I also "street tuned" for years... Answer me this... how with a "street tune" are you gonna get a perfect tune? How do you know if you are giving up 10 lb ft? You can't...

Is There a New Dyno Standard?

Is There a New Dyno Standard?

Industry Standard? hahahahahaha lol. Dynojets are for dynoqueens. Only good for getting big numbers.... uselss for tuning. I can map brand new EFI system on a MustangDyne in 2-3 hours.... dynojet?? might as well do it on the road. Took dynojet what? 10 years to add an OPTIONAL...

Is There a New Dyno Standard?

Yeah, no kidding. You HAVE to correct, otherwise, you don't know if the 2 degrees more timing made the extra 4 rwhp, or because the baro was higher....

what happens if I remove my ads superchip and not switch back the original octane bar

Why Switch to MAF? No reason for it these days. I run a 1986 Carpi with Gt40p's, ported stock intake, stock cam, bored out 63mm throttle body. Makes 241 rwhp, drives beautiful. Just ran a 13.54 at 100 mph on street tires at 4800 feet.... You can tune Speed Density cars now with A...

Is There a New Dyno Standard?

yeah, std is retarded. It is WAY high, and assumes sea level conditions that are unrealistic... If they use std, it's cause they wanna provide bigger numbers... typically 5% more. SAE is the way to go.

    Dyno run today, Chip question

Do you have a chip, or do you need a chip? I can guess you a chip if you email me the whole graph...and complete engine specs.... I can maybe send ya a few to try. AF is WAY lean at the bottom, and too rich at the top. But the proper way to do is is tune it on a dyno...

    Stock ported intake dyno results....

The short is stock 1986 , pistons MAY have been notched for the gt40p's... previous owner did that. All I did was fix the epoxy he blew out with a nirous backfire, and just smooth the transition from the upper to lower (he didn't have a good port match) Has usual bolt on's otherwise...

    Stock ported intake dyno results....

Here are some pics of the intake.... lower is ported to 1250 felpro gasket, 5 runners required epoxy... upper cut in half, ported to about gasket size and re welded... One other note.... at this level, the panel K&N filter was no restriction and removing it reulsted in no hp gain...

results first.... GT40p's on 1986 motor. Very well tuned with stock intake and newer (60mm thorttle body). Added ported stock lower, cut, ported and welded upper with modified stock 63mm throttle body. Retuned for best hp and torque... Tests were started at 2500 rpm.... curves were...
