    Placement of front cam bearing

I called the shop. He said the placement on the oil hole is more important than the depth of the bearing. He said to leave it.

Any tips in how to do that without cam bearing tools?

    Placement of front cam bearing

My manual calls for the front cam bearing to be set back .005-.020 from the face of the block. After getting my block back from the shop mine is at .080. This is on an FE engine. Do I need to get this fixed? If the shop was close by I would just take it back but its not.

water pump , new engine old style car

For a serpentine setup you'll need a reverse rotation water pump. If thats a stock 88 water pump it should be reverse. I dont think that they make a reverse rotation pump with the inlet on the side you need. I went through this with my 69 and 351 setup. I just went with the stock water pump...

    Torker II intake

I don't remember about the heights of the two but they are really close. I have a 1" spacer with the Torker II and a 3 inch tall air cleaner with a drop base and it fits under the stock non-shaker hood. I didn't have the spacer with the RPM. My 60ft were the same or faster with the Torker so...

    Flywheel torque

I think what I did was wedge a screwdriver between two of the bolt heads and hold the flywheel from turning.

    Transmission Leak Question

I think you need to drive it for at least 15 min to get the tranny up to temp. My FMX tranny will barely go into gear if it is a quart low. From what I have read you are supposed to check the fluid while the engine is running and go through all the gear positions right before you check it. I...

    351W Throttle cable setup

Here's what I did. I've had two different brackets and both of them only use one mounting point. With only one mounting point it gets pulled forward and doesn’t allow full throttle unless I really over tighten the carb nut that it mounts to. There are nice throttle brackets that use two...

    brake problem

A friend had her front brake pads replaced by her brother and within about a day it feels like the front rotors are warped. They were already aftermarket Brembo rotors and I don’t think they were prepped at all before new pads were put on. I've heard mixed feelings about having rotors turned...

What hose do I need to make this radiator work?

If you get the cross flow radiator (opp. openings) you would need a different water pump so the hoses match up. I think it was 1970 (for a 351w at least) Ford went to a cross flow radiator and mid 80s to a reverse rotation pump for a serpentine belt. You would need a 1970 or later water pump...

    Flexplate Woes

For my 351w and FMX tranny I went to Ford. Not sure if they are going to have any 351C stuff. For like $29.99 it was a re-toothed original flexplate, had it the next day.

    Torker II intake

I ran a Performer RPM and now a Torker II. Without changing the jets it ran 2 tenths slower. I went four sizes bigger on the secondaries and the Torker II ended up being two tenths faster than the RPM in the 1/4 mile.

    69 Fuel cap

Good to know. I did a search on Napa's page but it came up with nothing for that part number (their webpage isn't very good). Just last week I had the garage open and after about 10 min of the back half of my car being in the sun fuel started dripping out of my tank. After getting fuel and...

What tool do I use to cut my coils?

I've used a hack saw but the die grinder and cut off wheel are much easier, not much heat either.
