If not a mustang then what?

My real options: 1)LS1 powered TransAm or Camaro (cheap to modify, best nbang for the buck; T-Tops are nice too) 2)C5 corvette (more expensive than F body, but lighter, better handling; got to love targa roof) 3)a used Lotus Elise (would be perfect if it was powered by K20 not Celica engine; a...

Is it possible for any mustang to beat C6 ZO6 on a street?

True, but unless you will spray 250 dose, you will need a power adder to get 500+ hp. And that will yield about 100lbs right on the nose. Anyway, I see where you coming. I appreciate that somebody is trying to prove me being wrong. I would love to see a stang spanking ZO6 on the street. Anytime...

Is it possible for any mustang to beat C6 ZO6 on a street?

First of all, that's not my point if street racing is safe/ should I street race at all. Some street racing can be fairly safe, provided it's done in rural area, in daylight, with no other cars/pedestrians. And the whole race would be fairly quick between ZO6 and a modded mustang. Simply, ZO6...

Is it possible for any mustang to beat C6 ZO6 on a street?

Common, be realistic! How many times you have a chance to race a full mile on a public street? You'd be happy to get 1/4mi distance. And that mustang didn't brake a clip till way after 1/4 mark. And since you have read the article you know the 1/4 mi results-ugly.:bang:

    GT-500 = Boat

I'm honest. Even though I'm still a mustang fan, I'm not afraid to criticize Ford. Too many here in this forum do nothing but kiss Ford's ass.

Is it possible for any mustang to beat C6 ZO6 on a street?

You can only do so much with weight removal. What I'm saying if you want to keep your car street legal and yet somewhat comfortable, it's going to be very very hard to keep 53/47 distribution and have 700-800hp (that's what would take to beat ZO6) at the same time. Look at GT500! (Yes, that's...

Is it possible for any mustang to beat C6 ZO6 on a street?

Dude, that's for a stock GT. To get that baby to 10sec. zone most guys put a power adder, inter/after cooler, which adds extra weight to the front. Spare tire removal and almost empty tank don't help F/R ratio either.

    GT-500 = Boat

Who would drive GT500 on daily basis? I guess not many. Besides, you don't have to give up A/C, second row seats, power everything, etc to go fast. STI and Evo both weigh under 3400lbs. Both under 35K and fast. Now, lets stop kissing Ford's ass and let's be honest: GT500 needs diet bad...

What was the highiest mileage you ever saw on 4.6 4V engine?

I saw 120k running strong with the engine never pulled apart. Anybody in 200k ? I don't expect from Ford engine Honda's longevity, but I think 200k is feasible with Mobil 1 synthetics and other maintenance.

    Which one to get??

You can get a used 03 cobra for the price of new GT. And if you put those 3grand in mods... you are looking at DAY and NIGHT difference in performance. However, new GT would be more reliable.

    Two Things.

I totally agree with you. V6 does only one good thing for a mustang- lowers the cost of GT, due to the economies of scale for common parts: frame, doors, seats, etc. Other than that V6 mustang is simply put a "girlie" car. Cause most of the chicks don't need performance and they wouldn't give...

Is it possible for any mustang to beat C6 ZO6 on a street?

Are you sure? And you mean every single? Wow, that's the positive attitude man! 10.5 on the strip will barely make 11s on the street. :nono: ZO6 does high 11s on factory rubber..on the street pavement. Guys, when will you finally realize that 50/50 F/R distribution means a lot on the stoplight...

Being a mustang fan myself, I would like to see somebody proving that I'm wrong.

That's what I meant by saying "some luck" :nice:

Is it possible for any mustang to beat C6 ZO6 on a street?

Yeah, but that blazer was doing a huge burnout. Most street races occur impromptu at the long enough stop light. I guess one way to beat ZO6 is this: 1)Drop in a sickly modded engine, having at least 800hp. 2) Put on some Viper-like wide wheels (335 width tires) in rear. 3) To get some...

Is it possible for any mustang to beat C6 ZO6 on a street?

Some of your replies really pissed me off. I asked you is it possible to beat C7ZO6 on the street not on the track. :nono: That's a HUGE difference! So please, don't tell me stories of some mustangs doing 11s on some tracks. Get that baby on a ****ty street (like in here, in Las Vegas) and see...

    GT500 2007 40th Aniverssary Edition= SEX!

This Shelby doesn't need any more HP. What it needs is the diet! Especially in the front of the car. What I like about this special edition, is that they finally got rid off the "SUV look" by lowering the suspension. Just for comparison, the Shelby is so heavy to compare with C6, that...

Is it possible for any mustang to beat C6 ZO6 on a street?

You must live in a fresh pavement city. In Las Vegas, for example, I almost always get my tires spinning when I ride in the first gear and I floor my gas pedal at 5000 rpms. I've got 4:11 gears and only 280 RWHP.

    700HP WITH THE ROUSH BLOWER

700hp would make a beast any semi-light car but NOT for nose heavy 4000lbs pig. On the prepped track with some slicks it will probably get in high 10's and 125 mph. But who cares? On the regular street 700hp would make no better than 500hp. And that "700hp car" would probably get beaten by 190...

    GTvsCObra

I would go with 96-98 cobra. Those got more power than 99GTs, are lighter (aluminum vs iron block), and hey it's a cobra! Don't expect cobra to be that much faster than numbers are showing: 260rwhp vs 220rwhp. You would think 40rwhp difference would mean a lot in racing from the stop. Blame it...
