There must be a difference in the 04 Mach 1 power ratings. The highway fuel consumption is down 1 mpg on the 04 vs 03's indicating an improvement in efficiency. On the contrary the highway consumption is up 1 mpg on the 04 GT suggesting a loss of power.

Beware. In Canada the dealers state that the 5W20 oil is now just straight conventional motor oil produced by Petro Canada (in 2001/2002 I think it was semi-synthetic). Make sure that Ford hasn't made the switch to straight conventional oil in the US.

All these arguments and you didn't even cover the brands out there. I've heard that Quaker State has just come out with a full synthetic 5W20 - anybody try it. Also where can Mobil 0W20 be purchased in Toronto, Canada - can't find any dealers carrying it and our winters are very cold here.
