anyone else with throw-out bearing problems?

I would think that if there was enough slack in the clutch cable that the TOB wouldn't be spinning because it wouldn't be touching the spinning pressure plate fingers, at least not much. As long as the engine is running, whenever pressure is applied to the TOB then it is spinning. That's how I...

anyone else with throw-out bearing problems?

Hmmm, I'm a little confused here then. I would think that if the bearing ran dry then it would make noise when it had pressure on it and was spinning. When it does not have pressure on it and is not spinning, then I would think it should be quiet since it's not doing anything. Kind of like a...

anyone else with throw-out bearing problems?

There seems to be 2 seperate TOB problems being discussed in this thread and I'd like to just make clear what we're talking about. The first problem is a loud chirping/jingling noise made when no pressure is on the TOB (i.e. foot off clutch pedal, engine idling). The second is a...

Stock Rims -> Wider, but still safe, tires?

Yes and no, sort of. 275 is the nominal width in millimeters but the 45 is a ratio of sidewall height to width. Meaning the sidewall is 45% as tall as the tire is wide. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/general/size.jsp

anyone else with throw-out bearing problems?

I searched for a post where someone was saying that the Ford TOB's were supposed (as in designed) to make constant contact but couldn't find it. But I'm not gonna argue your point because I honestly don't know. What I do know is that before I adjusted my quadrant my TOB sounded like a...

    6-CD Changer Prob

My CD's were getting stuck a few month ago and I figured it out that they were getting hung up. The easy solution was to just use a flat tool (small flat-bladed screwdriver, nail file, another CD) to lift up on the edge of the CD as it is trying to eject. I found other similar posts where...

anyone else with throw-out bearing problems?

Did you try adjusting the stock quadrant or replacing it with an aftermarket one plus a firewall adjuster? Adjusting the stock unit worked for me, was incredibly easy to do and best of all NO MORE TOB NOISE. Here's a link to the tech article on corral.net on how to adjust it...

anyone else with throw-out bearing problems?

From what you are describing it sounds like what you are hearing is normal TOB noise. When you press on the clutch pedal (even with the slightest of pressure) you are causing the clutch fork to press on the TOB which in turn pushes on the fingers of the pressure plate. The TOB is a...

anyone else with throw-out bearing problems?

Well when you push in your clutch pedal you are engaging the TOB which is spinning and makes a "whirring" sound. Nothing loud or obnoxious but you can hear it. It is normal since it's just the sound of a spinning bearing. If it was squealing while you push in the clutch pedal then I would say...

anyone else with throw-out bearing problems?

You can adjust the stock quadrant to put more tension on the TOB (like if you were pushing with your foot) to keep it from squeeling. That's what I did and haven't heard a peep from my TOB ever since and I haven't had any other problem either. I tried the lithium grease trick and either I...

    FRPP speedometer calibrator?

They're the same price ($99) on the Dallas Mustang website, I hadn't searched for better prices. Not that the SpeedCal is a very difficult install or anything, the FRPP unit looks like it might be more of a plug-n-play install with the connectors.

    FRPP speedometer calibrator?

Has anyone used one of these? How does it compare (install, usage) to the Speed Cal? Dallas Mustangs even sells it. FRPP speedometer calibrator

    Mach 1 Struts/Shocks vs Stock GT *V.2.0*

I understand that which is why I said that the shocks/struts need to be "matched" to the springs. But I didn't realize that that is what he was trying to say so thanks for pointing that out. When he said the springs were the same as the GT springs I thought he was inferring that it was the...

    Mach 1 Struts/Shocks vs Stock GT *V.2.0*

Springs are what lowers (or raises) a car, not the shocks or struts. Shocks/struts are for dampening and should be matched to the spring height & rate. Everything that I have read anywhere says that the Mach 1 has different springs than the GT.

    Headlights fogging up

I just swapped out the driver's side headlight on my 02 Gt this past weekend. After the recent heavy central Texas rains it had a LOT of condensation. I found a crack in the lense though, probably from a rock while driving. The passenger side was fine, no condensation whatsoever. BTW...

    Clutch noise

No problem, glad it worked out. :) I bought a Steeda quadrant and firewall adjuster to take care of the problem but haven't installed them yet because the "free" adjustment has worked so well.

    Clutch noise

You can adjust the stock quadrant mechanism to put more tension on the TOB to keep it quiet. That's what I have done and my TOB has been nice and quiet with no ill effects otherwise. Do a search for my posts as I have listed how to adjust it (it's easy). You could also swap out the stock...

    Best Oil for '02 GT

I just use regular ol' Castrol GTX 5W-20 with a Motorcraft filter, all bought at Walmart. Walmart also carries the Motorcraft brand 5W-20 synthetic blend, just fyi.

    Eject!

Mine did that a few months ago. It seemed that the CD was getting hung up when trying to eject. I could see the edge of the stuck CD so I just used a key/small flat screwdriver/another CD to lift up on the edge of the stuck CD to free it.
