2004 Mustang GT – Fuel Pump Not Priming

HTML version of the circuit diagram does not display properly on my omputer. I converted it to JPG and posted here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/j8kwbb1aswb5rtv7idacx/Mustang-fuel-pump-schematic.jpg?rlkey=sx8zev3ejfp196t1nmyjmuur3&st=ide9twv9&dl=0

2004 Mustang GT – Fuel Pump Not Priming

I noticed one item not mentioned in your "replaced/checked" list: the fuel pump driver module. This electrical module receives signals from the engine/powertrain control module (ECM/PCM), and cycles the fuel pump on and off to maintain fuel pressure at the level requested by the PCM. This...

Fuel Pump Diagnosis - Test Jumper

When I suspected a bad fuel pump on my 2003, I made up a jumper cable so I could measure the pump voltage and current during cranking. Here is a drawing looking into the connectors:

    Wiring behind radio help

Depends on your needs. I have been driving my '03 for 18 years (purchased new in 2003) and have never used either the Traction Control or Rear defrost buttons. However, I don't drag race or use the car during winter, so do not really need either feature. Your situation might be different. The...

    Wiring behind radio help

OK; that info helped a lot. All of the connectors except the last 2 photos are apparently for the 3 audio systems that were available in 2002 Mustangs. It is not unusual for manufacturers to use a single wiring harness for multiple vehicle equipment variations, and just leave the unused...

    Wiring behind radio help

The 3 connectors shown in your first 3 photos are for the factory receiver/stereo. Ford designations are: C290a (16 pins) C290b (8 pins) C290c (20 pins) Three 8-pin connectors similar to that shown in your 4th photo are used for the fog lamp, rear window defrost, and traction control...

Where does this short (5-6 inch) wire go?

After further thought, I withdraw my blown fuse theory :). I was searching for a single cause of all your malfunctions, but now I think there are 2 separate causes. Regarding the heater mode selector, the dashed yellow line in the attached image is the vacuum hose for the heater/AC damper...

Where does this short (5-6 inch) wire go?

Clips to a threaded stud located near the fuel rail (red arrow in attached photo). I doubt if this is the cause of your electrical issues. If the manifold was replaced without disconnecting the battery, one or more blown fuses are a more likely cause.

2001 Gt Auto Can't Shift Into 3rd/4th Gear

By adjusting the levels in Photoshop, I was able to read your invoice. The transmission was rebuilt in June 2015 by installing a "Banner" kit (you can look up what this kit includes on Amazon), a re-manufactured torque converter, and a TransGo HD2 valve body reprogramming kit. Parts were $500...

2003 GT 6 Disc Player CD Error

I replaced the Mach 460 CD changer in my 2003GT 4 years ago with a JVC A/V touch-screen receiver, and used the Metra adapter harness specifically designated for that system. No speakers were replaced. After adjusting the equalizer built into the JVC unit, it sounds essentially identical to...

    Hawk Brake Pads Too Thick

Does this problem exist on the front calipers, rear calipers, or both? The new pads can be thinned and chamfered with a vice and portable sanding belt (been there, done that), but it is hard to maintain uniform thickness.

Now, On To Fog Lamp Issues (and Other Quirks With My 2000 Gt)

I checked the wiring diagram, and don't see any connector, ground, or fuse that is common to all of the circuits not working. I wonder if someone accidentally cut the harness that runs down to the panel under the radio? With the parking lamps ON, do the LEDs in the fog light switch and TRAC...

Electrical Has anyone installed a 2 din stereo in a '99-'04?

There are numerous double-DIN aftermarket units that will fit. Some vendors include the Mach-460-replacement dash and connector kits when you purchase the receiver from them. Otherwise, you could buy them from Amazon for ~$10 and ~$13 like I did.

    Tail lights staying on?

Is there an aftermarket alarm installed? Most connect to the dome light trigger, horn, and park or turn signal lights (to confirm are/disarm).

Stock Mach Stereo issues (2003 GT)

There's always the "upgrade" option. When my 2003 factory "Mach" 6-CD changer began to misbehave, I saw that as an opportunity. CDs are an anachronism. A cheap ($6) 8G USB flash drive will hold the equivalent of ~75 disks of music. Receivers and harness kits are available that will permit...

    03 MACH 1 CCRM BUZZING/ CLICKING

Manual transmission models just have an output shaft speed sensor that connects to the PCM. Read the "fuel filter" message thread on this page. The poster disabled his fuel pump and the engine continued to run for more than 20 minutes. I doubt if the tech "drove around" with temporary...

    03 MACH 1 CCRM BUZZING/ CLICKING

Automatic transmissions have several internal solenoids and a temperature sensor that are all wired directly to the PCM, and the PCM is powered through the CCRM. Digital voltmeters are sometimes "tricked" into false readings when measuring pulsed-DC. That might explain why you measured full...

    03 MACH 1 CCRM BUZZING/ CLICKING

To verify the CCRM ground, you just have to temporarily jump/splice either Pin 15 or Pin 16 to a good ground and see if the buzzing stops. Pins 15 and 16 are connected together inside the CCRM, so no need to jump both. Pin 18 is a dedicated ground for the fuel pump relay and must be OK or the...

    03 MACH 1 CCRM BUZZING/ CLICKING

What the tech did was jump (bypass) the PCM relay contacts within the CCRM. This test proved your PCM, PATS, fuel pump, etc. were all good. It also proves the PCM relay was not operating properly, but we don't yet know for sure if the cause is within or external to the CCRM. We also still do...
