    Need help selecting 14" tires!

Note the E70 mentioned above are 15". And if they are bias plies you don't want them anyway. A 225/70-14 should be fine. You might have slight rubbing in the front at full lock.

    shocks?

I've had KYB gas-a-justs and GR2, Konis and Bilsteins. Gas-a-just are too stiff for me, especially over speed bumps. Bilsteins are very good but IMO there is nothing like Konis. If you are on a budget put the gas-a-justs on the front and GR2s in the back.

    1969 exhaust hangers. Expert needed!

IIRC the 1970 (non-Shelby) dual exhaust system was not a transverse muffler system.

    65 V8 with C4 - Correct RPMs?

Sounds like the tranny is locked in 2nd gear.

Thinking of getting Nitrous - any suggestions?

Let's recap - you have a C4 and 8" rear and want 600 hp. One of two things is going to happen: (1) you will do nothing but spin the tires, or (2) you manage to start getting traction some kind of way in which case the 8" and/or C4 and/or driveshaft will break in short order. If an axle lets go...

Smell in the cabin? No idea where it's coming from

Do you have a PCV system? Does the breather on the valve cover vent into the air cleaner? I had this problem big time. I changed the PCV valve to one from a Boss 302 and replaced the breather cap with one with a nipple. Drilled a hole in the bottom of my air cleaner and ran a hose from...

    Sell it or keep it?

Sell them. They would not add a whole lot of value if you ever sell the car.

    Brake pedal travel

This is a common problem with new rear brakes. If they are not adjusted tight the brake pedal will have a lot of travel. Jack up the rear tire and use a screwdriver to turn the star wheel until you get some drag as you spin the wheel. Press the brake pedal to center the shoes and adjust...

    Front suspension questions

The Moog (rubber) ones I installed had the cup facing away on the back and inward on the front. BTW, I put a set of Midolyne strut rod bushings on my 73 vert. They are stiffer than stock. Luckily for me they shredded (and I mean shredded) instead of the strut rod breaking. Only took 50...

    Wheels for my '73

You can run 255/60-15 tires on the back easy with a 15x8 Magnum. And I've run the same size on the front with a 15x7 although I would go with a 245 just to make sure.

    Looking into engine options: 445FE

Survival Motorsports (1) knows what they are doing when it comes to an FE motor, and (2) will stand behind their product. In other words they are a sure thing. I have a 462 cubic inch FE in my 68 vert. 580 ft/lbs of torque at 3900. Idles smoothly at 650 rpm all day long. Very mild cam...

    Higher RPM Stumble - help

Sounds like a lean condition in cruise mode. Change out the metering rods for ones with smaller diameters which will richen it up. Pull the rods (takes about 60 seconds, STUFF A RAG IN THE CARB BEFORE REMOVING THEM), get a magnifying glass and read the numbers on them. They will be something...

    Max-G 66 Mustang

Hmmm. Take a $2500 car, spend about $25K on the drivetrain and chassis and then another $15-25K for all the other stuff. You will have a severely modified car that might be worth $20K when you are done. Don't waste your time putting big money in a coupe. And remember that serverely...

    fuel efficient 289?

I drove many C-code (289 2V) Mustangs back in the day. Retrofitted them with 4100 carb and 3.00 gears. Some manual, some auto. Even driving as gently as possible (and I mean gently) the BEST I ever saw was about 22 mph. Maybe at a steady 45 mph you could do better. Anything over 25 mpg at...

    Transmission / Driveshaft Paint

For cast iron use the Dupilcolor high temp cast iron paint. For the driveshaft use Rustoleum Professional Stainless Steel. Note that this paint has flakes in it which may come out and make the piece fuzzy. Stop painting, let it dry and wipe them off with tack cloth. Then resume painting...

Noisy lifters in my 1965 mustang

Changing heads could change the geometry and require longer pushrods. Check where the end of the valve is contacting the rocker. If it is off center then you probably need a different length pushrod.

Rusted piston wall? Doesn't take much in the way of pitting to make the block unusable. Better get that checked first.

    Scott Drake "quality"

I'd rather have a so-so repop than try to buy everything NOS. When I did my 68 I got some info from my body guy about what repop stuff fit and what did not. The stuff that did not (like grille trim) I bought NOS off ebay. The rest I got repop. I was able to make all the repop stuff work...

    Best radiator

I, too used the 24" 3+ row radiator from NPD. Note that it is for 68-70 and thus mounts differently than the 67. You have to get the correct frame mounts. The repop mounts I bought were not even close so I got some OEM ones off ebay. It keeps my 462 CI big block cool in Houston in the...
