    '70 Mach Suspension Question?

The rear of that car is jacked up with huge shackles. A 2" total drop in front with mid-eyes in back will be level not raked. Even with standard-eye, you may only get rake from a tall back tire.

The '99+ rears are 2" wider overall.

    8.8 in a 68 Coupe??

The best rear to look for is '94-'98. These are the same width as '67-'70 and Fox bodies, but the '94-'98 has 5 lugs and disc brakes.

    8.8 Info Request

If you use 2 short shafts, it will be 1" narrower (over all) than '64-'66. Also note that '99+ Mustang rears are 2" wider than '79-'98.

Will I need a forged crank??

I agree. I wouldn't put more than 500hp on a cast crank. I wouldn't spin it to 6800rpm though. Your piston speed would be greater than 7700rpm/stock stroke piston speed. Remember the piston has to travel a greater distance per rotation of the crank.

    What T-5's can I get?

I bought a '93 T5 from a GT for $50 and had it built with Z spec parts. They sell all the parts also. The T5 and T5Z use the same case. www.austinareastangs.com/abt

How much faster/How fast could my car be with this $$ ??

Aluminum heads won't be worth the extra $s if you don't raise your compression. Assuming you have 289 heads, any head change will result in slightly lower compression. You can spray if you have forged pistons and rods. I'd rather go for the improved breathing. No tanks to refill, more...

    HP from a stock 68 302

I would look for a roller short block from a Fox body Mustang and use iron GT40s or GT40Ps rather than 351 heads. The numbers above are stock at the flywheel with no accessories on the motor.

How do you remove an 8.8" axle tube?

I have a Mustang 8.8" I could use. That would require a pair of 31 spline axles($200+). One short Expy axle would be much cheaper ($30-$75)as there is little demand for them. I've also considered using the Expy axle tube ends that I already have on the Fox housing. The Expy uses larger...

How do you remove an 8.8" axle tube?

This is an Explorer rear end. The pinion is 4" to the right of center. The left axle is 3" longer than the right axle. I'm thinking of cutting 3" off the left tube and using 2 short (right) axles. This will make my wheels/tires fit better also.

How do you remove an 8.8" axle tube?

I've considered that mod also. That would require a pair of 31 spline axles. One short Expy axle would be much cheaper as there is little demand for them. If I remember correctly, the left and right axles are not the same length in the 9". The left and right axles in the 8.8" are the same...

    I have 3.75 gears...is this too much???

Thanx for the pic. As mentioned above, 3.55s are good for a daily driver or car that sees alot of highway time. I ran 3.89s with a C4 auto (also 1:1 top gear) before a very bad friend of mine talked me into installing a 5 speed.

How do you remove an 8.8" axle tube?

Do you just drill out these buttons?

How do you remove an 8.8" axle tube?

This is an Explorer rear end. The tubes do not appear to be welded anywhere, except for these 3 buttons(per tube). The pinion is offset 4" to the right. The left axle is 3" longer than the right axle. If I cut the left tube and use another right axle, the pinion will be closer to center and...

    I have 3.75 gears...is this too much???

65shlbycln, the '98 has overdrive. It's final drive would not be the same. Your car sould run 62mph at 3000rpm. 72mph at 3500rpm. This is with a 26" tire. Here are some nice calculators: http://www.speedworldmotorplex.com/calc.htm Do you have a larger pic of your avatar?<SCRIPT...
