    Water pump flange fell off

I think I'd give Flow Kooler a call and mention there's an issue!

Electrical I need a new engine wiring harness. Recommendations please.

Just bringing this back from 4 months ago. UPDATE: I installed the Painless harness from Summit and all is right in the world! The car starts immediately, idles perfectly and runs smoothly. That 30 year old harness was definitely the problem! The Painless harness does away with the salt &...

Hey whats up! More 2.3 power needed

What he said^^^. If it were me, I'd just clean it up, paint it silver and call it a day. They rarely ever go bad.

Hey whats up! More 2.3 power needed

The hose from the fitting off the lower intake goes to the factory metal coolant lines that run off your oil filter cooler. Those metal lines will have a nipple for the hose to attach. This is your Kirban adjustable fuel pressure regulator........ To replace those fuel lines you'll need to...

What in gods green earth happend to my N/A 2.3?

It's a sign, the time has come. Yank that pig and toss it in the dumpster! Put your time, money and effort into the turbo motor. You probably thought you were gonna swap motors and have the car on the road in a weekend. Reality check......it doesn't work that way! Take your time, pull the...

Hey whats up! More 2.3 power needed

For the wiring conversion, step 2 is all you'll really need to do............ https://www.stinger-performance.com/turboswap2.html Also, I looked everywhere and I can't find the VAM connector. Good news is Stinger sell 'em! https://www.stinger-performance.com/store/wiring/pigtails/vam-pigtail-36

Hey whats up! More 2.3 power needed

Stinger has an adjustable boost valve, Chip probably has one too....... https://www.stinger-performance.com/store/mbc-manual-boost-controller-stage-2?search=boost%20valve and, your N/A fuel rail and injector wiring should work on the turbo motor.

Thanks! That's exactly what I needed to know. I was on the phone with Painless tech today and he gave me a few things to try.

Fuel Why does the fuel pump prime and then stop?

Little back story. My 35 year old engine control wiring harness was toast so I went with a Painless harness. It does away with a lot of the superfluous crap that's not needed. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/prf-60510?srsltid=AfmBOorr5PZ4VJ8SF2f_Vs_Em8YVra1KZ_I_5ggDCRO9m5cg-SC2KPCr_pE So...

Engine Are dowel pins needed to align a front timing cover?

Well.....I think I've found the issue. No dowel pins! Just ordered a pair from LMR.

Engine Are dowel pins needed to align a front timing cover?

Not bad. The rubber part of the seal bottoms out on top of that ridge. From the base of the balancer to the top of ridge is about 7mm. It's also 7mm from the metal face of the seal to the rubber part. The motor had 90k well cared for miles before the rebuild.

Engine Are dowel pins needed to align a front timing cover?

I have a front seal leak (just a drip really) on my newly rebuilt '93 5.0. Question: Am I missing dowel pins that need to align the timing cover so the crank is centered in the TC bore? This pic is from teardown and I don't remember any dowel pins. This is after I pulled the balancer to try...

    Resolved 2.3 not running

After 35 years the contacts in the ECU relay tend to corrode which causes all kinds of running issues. Pulling codes won't point specifically to that. I had the same issue in my '93 5.0 Mustang. A new relay solved the problem.

Hey whats up! More 2.3 power needed

Stinger sells the 3" downpipe that you'll need and Chip has the waterline elimination kits so you should be good. IIRC, '88 TC's didn't have a blowoff or bypass valve on them so it's unnecessary. When you visit the BAR ref make sure everything is hooked up properly and nothing is mickey...

Drivetrain What's the proper way to check auto trans fluid?

'93 AOD. What's the proper way to check trans fluid to get an accurate reading? I'm running straight Mercon V. When I floor it, the car shifts pretty hard going into 2nd gear. Enough to 'chirp' the tires.

Engine Question on the good 'ol Innova 3145 code reader?

Pulled codes on '93 5.0 and got 81,82,85,84. It cycled back and displayed the same codes again (as it should). Then, I got the 10 seperator code and the continuous memory codes came up. I pulled a 33 (EGR) and 66 (MAF). It cycled back and displayed the 33 again (as it should) but the 66...

    Drivetrain Start up help...loud noise

You're completely sure about that? Either way, the starter needs to come out and be checked over. Double check your index plate and install a known good starter to see if it still does it.
