Drivetrain Mustang II 5 stud rear axle conversion

I have done this swap using new Yukon axles and the 65-66 axles will fit, but it is not a straight swap. A spacer is needed between the bearing and shoulder to make the axle flange line up with the face of the brake drums. Otherwise the axle does not stick out far enough on each side. Might be...

Drivetrain Mustang II 5 stud rear axle conversion

The 65 rear end will fit without moving the spring perches. The difference is only 1/8" on each side and the leaf springs bushings and spring perches will easily accommodate the difference. If you are not comfortable with the alignment, just slot the holes in the spring perches 1/8" on each side...

Mustangs Unlimited sells the rear window louvers with the hinges included. They do not list the hinges and latches separately, but you may be able to call them and special order the hardware kit.

    Hello All!

The answers are: Yes, and Yes This is exactly what I have done. The wiring instructions for the MSD 6A show 2 ways of installing, one is in parallel with existing box and the other is in place of existing box. Use the instructions for replacing the existing box. Here is a link to...

    MII Hood Struts?

Mine are basically junkyard parts. I cut the mounting points from a 95 T-bird and welded them to pieces of 1" x 1" angle, then trimmed some of the excess metal off the angles. Pop riveted them to the hood and inner fender with some large rivets and used the T-bird struts. My suggestion would...

    transmission crossmember troubles

If you only want to make the humps taller, you can make a cut on each side of the hump and extend them upward with 3/16" thick plate or flat bar. Be sure to tack weld it in place and check the fit before welding it solid.

    8" rear end bearings

I just got done doing mine a few weeks ago. If you keep chiseling at the retainer in one spot, it will eventually split and slide off. The bearings will also need to be pressed off, chiseled off or cut with a grinder. I used a die grinder with 3" x 1/16" cutting wheel to cut the retainer and...

    harmonic balancer

I think the location of the timing pointer is different on the II timing cover from other models. This makes the location of the degree marks on the damper have to be in a different location. The number I found for a MII 302 V-8 damper is D5ZZ-6316A...
