can you check to see if your starter is stuck. give it a few taps. sounds like it but only brainstorming. it doesn't cost anything to check. cranking a car draws major amps. if a starter is stuck it can drain the life from your car. heat can kill a starter.

josh sounds like you have a timing problem. get the timing checked out and also check the plug gaps. when timing is off you will get a backfire and hesitation. the backfire sounds like a clicking noise in your intake. has your engine been built. worn timing parts can jump timing.

if your looking for a cheap conversion you can get an 8.8 posi out of an aerostar van but it has to be an electronic 4wd rig it has the 5 bolt pattern axles in it and you can use the whole rear if it isn't worn out. bolts in.
