Auto trans not shifting to 3rd any ideas?

Hopefully it's just the vacuum hose going to the modulator valve, or the modulator valve itself.

Carburetors, what do you look for when purchasing one?

How about a couple more? :-) Any chance on an adjustable power valve or equivalent? Although it is easier just to divide your vacuum by 2 and install a fixed power valve. How about a screw or screws to let more air in instead of having to drill holes in the primary plates to keep from...

    Engine vibration on 65 Rebuilt 289 2brl

Wrong harmonic balancer(50 oz) or wrong flywheel(50 oz) maybe?

Carburetors, what do you look for when purchasing one?

Well, I've only really fooled around with my Holley 1850-3 so that's all I have experience with. It would be nice if the carb included a few jets sizes, or was compatible with Holley jets. How about variable jets that you could adjust like idle mixture screws? Is that even possible, or is...

    Finally bought my t5.

Make sure the transmission is in neutral before you try to drive that roll pin out! If you don't, you'll get the roll pin stuck. I'd definetly recommend getting a rebuilding video from Bob Hanlon. http://www.hanlonmotorsports.com if I recall correctly. Here's a couple of links that may...

    gearing for the t5

If you get one or build a T5 with a 2.95 ratio(I'm referring to world class T5's here), your torque rating goes to 330 ft/lb or close to it if you are building one. I rebuilt a T5 and kept the 3.35 first gear and installed it into my '68 which has a 3.00 traction lok 8" rear and 225/50/16...

My new engine is a dog!!

Summit Racing has the Ford Motorsports cams. Do a search for "FMS Cam" and it should show up in the results. Jegs might have it too. Part nos. are FMS-M6250-A312 and FMS-M6250-A311 they are around $80 at Summit.

    How about ABF Freight?

    Vac advance, ported or manifold?

And all cars have the same idle speed stock and modified? I don't think so. My 302 calls for 6 degrees of timing stock. I can move the timing up to 16 degrees and more and it will still idle. It might ping under load, but the car will still run......

    1968 289s

Yeah, but you said you had a Fairlane. In the '68 Mustangs, 302 engines were 4 barrelled. edit: I reread my first post and see I wasn't too clear that I was talking about Mustangs. Sorry for the confusion.

    1968 289s

I thought that all the 302's in '68 were 4 barrelled and installed in GT cars? Anyway, my '68 was originally a 289 car. I've still got the engine at my parents house(it spun a bearing on a previous owner). I didn't think there was anything special about '68 289's in Mustangs except for the...

    Advice from Global West Owners...

I put Global West upper control arms on my '68 some years back. You'll have to drill new holes in the shock tower using the template they supply. I believe the drill bit size is 9/16" which is a 1/2" drive drill bit. I had to borrow a 1/2" drive drill as I didn't have one so line up a 1/2"...

Any way to eliminate the tranny from automaticly shifting when you put it in 1-2?

I wouldn't use one from a '74 Mustang II though. I put a C4 valve body from a '74 Mustang II in my '68 Mustang(don't ask why!) and the thing will skip 2nd altogether under light throttle.(skipshift!) Under full throttle or if you shifted it manually it would stay in 1st or 2nd as long as you...

    C4 tranny to a 5 spd, i need help!

Well, the GT-40 engine in the link you posted comes with a 50 oz flywheel drilled for a 10-1/2" clutch with a diaphragm pressure plate. Click on the "parts instruction sheet" in the link and it tells you about the 50 oz flywheel and the clutch needed as well as the included 50 oz damper, etc...

    Ignition wire

I can vouch for that as well. The resistor is somewhere between the ignition switch and the 3 wire harness at the firewall.

    T-5 Clutch Fork

I bought mine at Napa(it was made in China though). It was around $20 if I recall correctly. I've also noticed that D&D performance has them as well.

    '67 Parking Brake

I'd check some of the online Mustang parts companies websites and maybe send them an e-mail asking what you need. Virginia Mustang supply has a catalog you can search through for parking brake items at http://www.vamustang.com . Johns Mustang also has a catalog to search through as well at...

    4 cyl T-5

I'm not too sure about a 4 cylinder T5 being any lighter than a V8 T5. They have different gearing in them and that's what makes them weaker than the V8's. A 3.95 1st gear is weaker than a 3.35 1st gear which is also weaker than a 2.95 1st gear. Someone could buy all the V8 gears(including...

For those who did a T5 swap

Something else that you might have to deal with is the bellcrank kickdown lever; but it might only apply if you are using a Lakewood T5 bellhousing like I used, I'm not sure. Anyway on my '68, I didn't have a manual bellcrank, and I didn't want to wait/look for one, so I hacksawed the...

    Lakewood Scattershield Questions

I have Hedman long tubes on my '68, and had to grind the Lakewood T5 bellhousing on the driver's side as well.(I used a dremel and it took forever!! My brother said a grinder would've worked better except I didn't have one.) I didn't have to grind anything off of the passenger side although...
