How are you able to read your fuel pressure? And yes, it should hold for at least awhile. You either have a bad FPR or fuel pump.

Get a second opinion. I don't mean to be insulting, but from reading your post and subsequent comments, you don't seem to know much about cars, and I suspect the shop smelled fresh roadkill. Hook up with a buddy and get the right skinny. This shop didn't diagnose a bad tranny without a teardown.

If I remember right, there is a restrictor in the inlet heater hose to reduce heater core water pressure. Any chance you reversed hoses?

Could be. I had similar problems, though usually when hot and coming to a stop, but also had bucking at cruise at times. Brand new MSD, and guess what? It had a bad pickup coil inside the distributor. If it's less than a year old, still under warranty, contact MSD through their website and...
