how hard is it to convert an 8.8 rear end

I put an Explorer 8.8 in my '66. One side of the Explorer housing is like 2.93"? (I can't remember exact number) longer than the other side. You need to cut it down to the same length as the shorter side. Then you use 2 of the shorter axles. There used to be a great write up that someone...

    Granada parts

Several years ago, I saw a really rough '77 Granada parked at an apartment complex. I left a note on the windshield telling the owner if it died on him, I would buy it for parts (spindles). He called me about a years later. I had completely forgotten about leaving the note, but I bought his...

    Ignition Switch Question

I have searched the forum for the answer to my question and I think I have it figured out, but I want to be sure before I dive further into rewiring my ignition. I have a '66, and I recently added an MSD 6AL. Everything works fine once the engine is started, but getting it to start is...

56K warning Lots of pictures! Swapping a '67 Radiator Support into a '66

Runt, I love this project already. I did this radiator swap a couple months back by hacking into my '66 radiator support and adding a 24" radiator and a Taurus fan. I cheaped out on a Chinese Ebay radiator. For me, this works fine, but you are definately on a better track. Keep up the good...

    What Headers with Unisteer R&P?

That's what I was afraid of. I am doing an engine swap in the near future, and I wanted to re-do the exhaust at that time. I was thinking of running shorty headers, but I don't want to do a bunch of modifications to the headers to make them work. Thanks for your reply.

    What Headers with Unisteer R&P?

I want to see what headers you Unisteer users are running. I have had the Unisteer R&P in my '66 for about a year and I currently have some long tube headers (I think Headman), but I was wondering if anyone was running short tube headers or long tube headers that needed no modifications. I had...

    Help IDing a torque converter

Does anyone have any hints for identifying an aftermarket torque converter? I have one I don't need any more, but I don't remember what kind it is. I bought this converter new in early 2004. I had in in my car for about 3000 miles, and then I changed to a T5. The problem is, I am...

Pics of my shortened Aerostar driveshaft

Also, I looked at a bunch of Aerostars and Explorers at the junkyard, trying to find a decent driveshaft. Around here, they destroy almost all of them picking the vehicles up with forklifts. What a waste.

Pics of my shortened Aerostar driveshaft

Nice. I wasted $25 on the first one. That looks exactly like what I am using now. You can't beat the price.

mechanical water temp gauge - install question

The rear ports may not have the flow that you would get from the front of the intake and may not be as accurate as the front, but I didn't want to move the factory sending unit. I couldn't get the plug out of the front passenger side. I was afraid going to break something trying to remove it...

Pics of my shortened Aerostar driveshaft

I used an aluminum driveshaft out of an Explorer, I think. (It was on the ground next to an Explorer at the junkyard). I originally bought an Aerostar driveshaft, but it had crimped on ends, and the driveline shop would only shorten welded ends. I can't tell from your photo, but was it...

mechanical water temp gauge - install question

I installed a similar Summit gauge in one of the left rear ports on my Edelbrock intake. The sending unit on mine looks just like the one you have. I had to buy an adaptor at NAPA to match the thread of the sending unit to my intake.

    T5 speedo gear

True. Can't hurt to replace the old one. Just be sure the new gear has the right number of teeth.

    T5 speedo gear

The gear is supposed to be smaller than the end of the cable that fits in the hole. I just re-used my old C4 gear in my T5. Did you change your rearend gear ratio, or did you just want to use a new gear?

    Hedman Hedder Question

I have a set on my '66 289. I've had no problems other than needing to dent one of the tubes a little to clear my power steering slave cylinder.

    Unisteer Rack & Pinion

My installation is complete. I drove about 10 miles today. The highway driving is great, but the slower turns are going to take some getting used to. The steering effort is not bad, but I'm kinda used to the old power steering. Overall, I am still impressed with the apparent quality of the...

    Unisteer Rack & Pinion

I just finished the majority of my rack installation in my '66 coupe. For the most part, the install was pretty smooth. I did have some issues with my Hedman headers. I had to relocate the number 5 tube. Nothing too bad. In moving it to allow for the steering shaft, I gained a straight shot...
