    Ignition Switch Question

I have searched the forum for the answer to my question and I think I have it figured out, but I want to be sure before I dive further into rewiring my ignition. I have a '66, and I recently added an MSD 6AL. Everything works fine once the engine is started, but getting it to start is...

    What Headers with Unisteer R&P?

I want to see what headers you Unisteer users are running. I have had the Unisteer R&P in my '66 for about a year and I currently have some long tube headers (I think Headman), but I was wondering if anyone was running short tube headers or long tube headers that needed no modifications. I had...

    Help IDing a torque converter

Does anyone have any hints for identifying an aftermarket torque converter? I have one I don't need any more, but I don't remember what kind it is. I bought this converter new in early 2004. I had in in my car for about 3000 miles, and then I changed to a T5. The problem is, I am...

    Water pump backing plate

I'm trying to buy a new water pump. The pump that I just removed did not require a backing plate. I bought a Milodon pump at Jegs today that came with a backing plate. (#16230) I told the salesman that I was pretty sure my pump didn't have a plate. He checked with one of the Chevy experts in...

    Water pump question

I am having overheating problems with the outside temperature in the low 40's. I think I screwed up my water pump. I have been running a 4 row radiator and an 18" flex fan. I have had no over heating issues even in the heat of summer. Two weeks ago, after installing my 3.73 gears, I went...

    Edelbrock carb question

I have been fighting a vacuum leak for a while now, and I can only find two sources for the leak. This is the passenger side of my Edelbrock 1405 carb. If I spray carb cleaner through a straw onto these two linkages, I get a definite change in my engine idle. When sprayed onto the rear...

    My 8.8 project finished

After recently converting from a C4 to a T-5 in my '66 coupe, I was itching to put new gears in the rear of my car. Not having much of a budget to work with, I decided to try installing an 8.8 Explorer rearend with a 3.73 Traction-Lok differential. I realize this topic has been beat to death...

    Help with brake drums

I am in the process of replacing some rear brake parts on my '66 coupe. At sometime, the previous owner has replaced one of the axles. The result of this is now I have one original axle with a center hub (pilot hole) diameter of 2 3/8" and one with a 2 3/4" diameter. The current setup works...

    Edelbrock vacuum leak question

I have an Edelbrock 1405 on my '66 289. I have been chasing a vacuum leak for the past couple of weeks with little success. Actually, the leak has probably been there since I rebuilt the engine in '04, but it didn't bother me until someone recently pointed out to me that the car didn't idle...

    Granada Proportioning Valve

I recently put Granada discs on the front of my '66 coupe. I used the Granada proportioning valve. After the install, I had excessive brake pedal travel. After repeated bleedings and proper adjusting of the rear drum brakes, I began to look at the proportioning valve, thinking there may be...

    Brake drum question

I am trying to rebuild the rear drum brakes on my '66 8-inch rear. I bought new drums at NAPA, but the center hole is too small to fit over the center of the hub on my rear axle. The hub is approximately 2 3/4" in diameter. The new drums have a center close to only 2 3/8". The drums are 10"...

    Bench bleeding help

I'm wrapping up a Granada brake swap on my '66, and I'm trying to bench bleed the master cylinder using bleeder tubes. I'm using a MC from a '70 Mustang with power front discs. I bought a new MC from NAPA. The directions say to use 3/4" to 1" strokes to bleed the MC. They say to continue...

    Fan shroud diameter

Does anyone know the diameter of a stock 65-66 fan shroud? I want to get a fan shroud, but I want to be sure which diameter fan I need. The NPD catalog says the shrouds are 20". With the radiators measuring 17 1/4" X 16 1/2" I can't picture the diameter of the ring being 20".

    Fan or water pump?

My 289 has a new 4 row radiator, fan shroud, a stock 7 blade fan with a new clutch, and a newer stock replacement water pump. Since I rebuilt the engine a year ago (1500 miles), I have had some cooling problems when idling. On the freeway its fine (180*). I put the fan shroud yesterday hoping...

    Alignment Question

I just replaced some of my front suspension parts (upper and lower arms, sway bar and bushings, and strut rod bushings), and I am trying to align the front end. I also did the Shelby drop while I was at it. I was trying to set it up as follows: 1/8" toe 0 to -.5 camber +1.5 to 2 caster...

    I6 Granada Spindles

I have a chance to buy a running 1977 Granada for $150. The car has the 250 I6 engine. I've searched through our threads (and other sites), trying to find if the Granada swap can be done using the I6 spindles. Some sites say use only V8 spindles. There seems to be conflicting information...

    1966 Parking Brake Help

My car did not have a working parking brake when I bought it. Everything was there, but the equalizer bar and the return spring were missing. I purchased the new parts, but I can't figure out what the return spring anchors to. I did a search two weeks ago for info and found a thread which had...

    1966 A/C Question

I'm trying to piece together all of the components for the A/C in my '66 coupe. The previous owners had removed most of the A/C related items from under the hood, and left them in the trunk. They also replaced the correct alt. bracket with another type. I bought a new bracket (idler bracket...

    Transmission kick down cable

I have a '66 coupe with a 289 and a C4. When I bought the car, it had no transmission kick down cable. I have got by the past couple of months using a piece of tie wire cut to the right length. I just received a new cable from NPD, but I can't seem to figure out how it mounts to the throttle...

    Igniton question

I was messing with my spark plug wires today, and I noticed that when I pull numbers 1,4,6 or 7 (one at a time) there is very little change in the idle of the car. However when I pull 2,3,5 or 8 the idle is very rough. Is this normal? When I pulled the #1 spark plug, it appeared very rich. I...
