    What would you do?

I don't think I could wait for the end to enjoy that beer. Seems to me to be an intregal part of the process! Good post!

    c-4 rebuild

I've always been scared shetless of doing that. Do you have excellent accounting skills (memory doesn't cut it)? You'll need special tools for certain parts & it's recommended you have an engineer vice, whatever the hell that is. What sort of workspace do you have that can be dedicated? You'll...

    C4 Leak

I accidently pulled my dipstick tube out and managed to plug it back in by sense of touch but I'm thinking that wretched moment in time was responsible for the leak I also have now. :( Sucks when your project car is your daily driver. Can't exactly pull the transmission and have everything fixed...

    mustang louvers

Totally slipped my mind. Guess that's what happens when you surf at work  I'll give it another whirl on Tuesday.

    Transmission Problem

If I knew what the problem was, I wouldn't be on here would I? Some of us learn as we go. I've checked my books on it but my references don't have the advantage of experience. Thanks for the advice but unless I know you well enough, I won't take kindly to smartass remarks. On my last post I...

    Transmission Problem

I'm editing and deleting my original post: "gone" I did some more tests on the way home. My tran drops into first no problem by either selecting 1st or Drive. It doesn't move into second however unless I move the selector there (no automatic control). Same thing with 3rd, except also, it...

    mustang louvers

I have a set of rear window louvers made of some kinda metal, maybe aluminum but they seem kinda heavy, at least a few pounds. I took them off a while ago because they were a pain in the ass. Broke my latch lifts right off with the extra weight. And I had to rivet them on into the metal above...

How do I remove the window trim?

I think it's just held on there by friction clips. There may be a screw or 2 as said above. Can't remember. But I do remember that once you get it started it comes off pretty easy.

    New dyno results.

Stupid question anyway. That's what happens when you type faster than you think  What I really meant was how much fuel to power improvement because I have plans too. You got 11hp with potential for more with adjustments. I didn't read which cam you put in. Was it loepy or mid...

    I got my hinges!

That is pretty funny! You should never let another guy clean your baby's carburator. Staying over night at someone else's place. No wonder you're so anci! :p :D

Wheels-Tires Wheel/tire Combos Known To Fit

I have 225-50-15's up front and 225-60-15's in the back, with 3/4 in spacers all round to clear the upper balljoints (wasn't an issue in the back). Couldn't get the 60's to fit up front without rubbing hard so being a tightwad I just went to 50's on the front tires. Don't like the new attitude...

    New dyno results.

That's interesting. For those us that bought the automechanics for dummies book, what diagnostic tool would enable one to adjust to those exact specs? Or because of the RPM curve would that only be something you could do in a shop during a dyno test? And do you have to convert weight to mass by...

    Quest for weather proof II

Yeah, I noticed that too when I pulled my out. Had pine needles and all sorts of crap in there. I had been under the impression that the whole back end up to the quarters was galvanized:rolleyes: . Those things basically are foam rubber sponges. Had a fun time trying to wipe the rust out of...

    Slipping at rest

Hey thanks guys. This forum is a life saver. Geez, I hope I don't need a rebuild. I just had it done in 1990 or thereabouts, and I've only put on about 30,000 miles since then. I like the sound of that "it's normal" idea better. It just really sucks if a car's heading for you and you have...

    Slipping at rest

There's been no changes to fluid lately. I've always put type F in it. How do I find the vacuum line? Can I use a standard (engine) vacuum tester?

    Slipping at rest

Kinda a sounds like a strange thing to do doesn't it...well maybe if you're drunk enough.. Tranny is C4 Auto: Happens when cold and very low speeds and rest. Fluid level is right. 1st gear in Drive mostly and also happens in reverse occasionally. Only for the 1st couple minutes when its...

    Dumb ? - Tire pressure?

This is almost embarrassing to ask. What's the correct tire pressure for a 302? I don't have the door sticker. Never have. I've always kept my pressure at 29 psi up front and 27 in the rear. That's my best guess. With the new wheels on, I'm wondering if that's right or close even. :)
