    CNBC Reports 05 Under 20000 w/ 300HP

Between bad grammar, the grapevine, confused MBAs, and wishful thinking, I really think this is where all the confusion is coming from. New articles are saying things about how the '05 Mustang will be a 300HP car and will sell for under 20K. This doesn't mean the 300HP GT model will be under...

    Orders delayed until Dec.???

A dealer trying to BS you? Nooooo...say it isn't so. This could never happen. Everything I've heard still says a Fall delivery to the dealers. I'll be at the Chicago show this weekend so I'll see what they say, for what it's worth. Maybe your dealer means he's thinking he's...

    The Complaint Department

I hear you, Ron. I'm just hoping the demand will be lower than I expect it'll be so I don't have to wait as long. I'd rather wait 1 than 2 years, but I guess patience is still a virtue. Maybe I need to start bad-mouthing and bashing the '05 for my own self-interest. ;)

    The Complaint Department

We really need to look at the positive side of this thread. I sincerely hope there are more folks out there like Jaz142, to keep the demand down for the new '05 so the initial dealer gouging will end sooner. I'm afraid the '05 is going to look too good to too many folks.

    Buying a mustang

I can afford a 'Vette, Viper, or Porsche but just can't see shelling out that much dough for four wheels. I believe you start to get into the "diminishing returns" factor, as well, having to spend quite a bit to get just a little more performance, plus paying for the name, at least in the case...

sub $20k V8 rumor strikes again

Back from the dead. ;) I'd still like to believe it's going to happen. Time will tell.

    What would you get if...

I'm planning a similar strategy to Ron's. As tough as it's going to be, I'm going to wait out the initial '05 buying frenzy and all that will go with it and probably go with an '06 or '07. I figure it will be worth the wait. I'd like to get a dark green-type color, which isn't even going to...

    No covertible until next February?

Yes, fastback. Give me an '05 fastback. It's got the look.

    No covertible until next February?

Depends upon where you live. October in SE Texas, where I'm at, can be perfect weather for top-down driving. Not too cold, not too hot. That said, I'm not really interested in a Mustang convertible. A GT hardtop will do for me.

    AutoWeek Article

Gee, I sure hope this is high enough. I may have to lower my usual boulevard cruising speed.

Why is FORD keeping the 05's roped up!

LOL. If you're not happy about not being able to set in the car show '05, you're really going to be thrilled when you see what the dealers are initially going to want from you for obtaining the privilege to drive one home to your garage.

    Hello Mustang Folks!

Hi, Michel. Have you ever owned a Mustang? The reason I ask is I believe the new design is good enough, value-wise and looks-wise, to attract those who have not previously owned a Mustang. I've owned two Mustangs, a '67 six cylinder and a '96 GT. The '05 is calling me back.

Variant of the 2005 Mustang to be unveiled?

Thanks for the updates, Vlad. Keep'em coming. I'm with most of the other folks that it's probably going to be the convertible but I'm hoping otherwise.

    Release date for 2005s

:D I'm hoping by the time Ford has the Cobra, SVT, Shelby or whatever comes first on the dealers' lots, the initial demand surge for the GT will have died down enough to get a semi-reasonable price on a GT. The reaction to the new '05 seems to be pretty positive so I expect the early demand...

    Release date for 2005s

Thanks for the prompt clarification. I wonder if the date that dealers will start taking orders was just misinterpreted as the date the '05's are to arrive on dealers' lots. Oh well, back to the Fall of '04 for '05 deliveries. Since I figure I'll have to wait out the inevitable dealer...

    Release date for 2005s

I guess we're in "overtime." I still have the uncomfortable feeling we're going to lose this game.

    Release date for 2005s

Everything I've read says the '05's are to be at the dealers in the Fall of 2005. May or June would be a major surprise. Ordering an '05 in May sounds more believable. "I'm from Missouri, show me." Correction: Fall of 2004, thanks for Boomer's catch below.

Variant of the 2005 Mustang to be unveiled?

Sad, what you're describing is what a Mustang should be, IMHO. If only Ford would just give us the option. A lighter V8 version is what I'd prefer but I'll be surprised if this is the variant to be shown at Chicago. I expect initial demand for the '05 Mustang to be high so there probably...
