    T-5 to AOD....yes thats right

Don't forget the big one...tranny cooler. If you do have a donor car, I wouldn't think it would be difficult, just time consuming. I would also do a thorough research on TV cable adjusting, as well as tranny fluid replacement and topping off. If you do either one wrong the tranny won't last...

    Bearing retainer question???

I am by no means an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but if you consider that the clutch cable, fork and bell housing will limit backwards movement of the bearing on the retainer, I would think that it would be ok. I believer you have the steel retainer, since I THINK my uninstalled...

    Stock Oil Pressure Gauge

When I went from stock to autometer, it was of great of interest to me to see the oil pressure start out high when cold, and once the car warmed up, the pressure would settle down to a "normal" level. The pressure also fluctuates up and down up to 10lbs depending on engine speed too. Like...

Automatic tranny troubles, car wont shift gears?

A bad cable or misadjusted one can cause the problems you are having. Take it somewhere to get checked out since a badly adjusted TV cable will fry a transmission easily.

Found a 2 pin connector on the tail shaft of my TKO unconnected?

Ah, oh well...so much for information gleaned from the internet. I am narrowing down a spiking idle on deceleration to my VSS. Hearing how you car runs fine without it, I am leaning towards disconnecting the thing when I have time to see if that fixes anything. I guess we will see. BTW, I...

Found a 2 pin connector on the tail shaft of my TKO unconnected?

I don't recall the engine management system using the neutral indicator for anything other than cruise control and code pulling. Either way, glad your car runs better. Pre 88 cars used the VSS for cruise control only, or so I have read. If M.Yount's volvo has an earlier engine, that may...

Missing bolt in the intake = vacuum leak?

At the same time, all the vacuum hoses under the intake are probably cracked and messed up, so you should change as much as you can while you have the intake off. All 3 of my friends and my car had cracked, groddy hoses that disintegrated when you pulled on them.

Missing bolt in the intake = vacuum leak?

Um, I would say yes. There aren't a lot of bolts holding that thing down, and depending on how the engine rocks and shakes, the leak could be better at times, and worse at times.

WTF! new motor mounts n longtubes n now i'm smokin, n the car wont shift

Sounds, best case scenario, like a misadjusted or sticking TV cable. I would guess that when they jacked up the motor to change the mounts, they went too high and somehow kinked or misalinged the cable. Worst case scenario could be a myriad of things.

    Trany swap

If its in great shape, with documentable 75000 miles, then, yeah, I would say its a reasonable price. By great, I mean good interior, no rust, decent tire tread, good paint, good running, etc.

    H-Pipe???

You already have an h-pipe on your car now, assuming it's a standard 88 mustang. If you know how to weld, then it would be cheaper to delete you cats yourself.

Are you sure you have a good ground? If you do, it does sound like it's shot.

Compression check on my 180k mile stang

If you can so easily foot the bill for the 331, I would suggest you just go that route in the first place? For me, money is pretty tight, so I would have to scrounge around for the SC, install it myself, and hope for the best. If it blew, I would be looking at riding the bus for a few months...

bellhousing to engine plate bolt sizes anyone????

Er, auto or manual? The 2 top bolts on the auto are longer than the manual ones. Sadly enough, while I have a whole set down in the garage, I would not begin to know how to tell you what thread pitch/size it is. Try calling around the ford shops or dealers?

    Oil Pressure gauge help

If you can't find that piece, you can try looking for something similar in the plumbing section of your Home Depot or equivalent big box store (most of the sensors, etc use standard plumbing threads). The only problem is that the stock extension is hex shaped so you can twist it to...

Ran Codes With A PaperClip..Puzzled About One Code

Just read my post and it sounds kinda of confusing. I was just trying to comment that the IAC is likely the cause for many a bad idle, and at under 50 bucks for an aftermarket piece, its worth taking the chance. Especially considering how irking a bad idle is. GL

Ran Codes With A PaperClip..Puzzled About One Code

No, I am pretty sure the IAC won't throw a code. 2 of my friends and I were chasing down a idle problem too. We were using on IAC from what we thought was the "good" car, and it didn't help, so we gave up. The "good" car's owner sprang for a new IAC on a whim, and wouldn't you know, the car...

    Need AOD Help Desperately!

I second the TV cable. How did you adjust it? One turn of the adjusting nut will throw things out of wack, not to mention anything really bad will cook your tranny faster than Michael Jackson can say Cash Settlement. I would bite the bullet and take it to a dealer or reputable shop to...
