67 Mustang Hood Clearance question for Stealth and Road Demon

You should fit with a drop base (be careful, too low and it hits the linkages) My car is a 66 with a 302, victor jr. intake and holley dp and it fits pretty good. Also, done forget anything on the top of the air cleaner as will make your hood look like its growing a nipple.

    beat but not by much!!

Well I have to agree, while I don't have a problem with it at all, there are times and places for it. Service and industrial areas at night are our best times. Those that choose to do it in open public with people around are asking for trouble. Here, a few years back in Long Beach, LI, a...

I don't know, 300 ft lbs sounds high, you don't have a diesel!

    351c hp estimate

Its hard to say as a Cleveland mildly built can make alot of HP. Ex. the stock 2bbl heads come with 2.05 intake valves. Look at aftermarket heads, most are not that big. The stock intake and exhaust runners are pretty good except for the water jacket hump in the exhaust port, although I think...

    Stroke or no stroke?

also, keep in mind a good stock/performance rebuild will most likely require cutting the crank and balancing, reconditioning the rods, new pistons boring and honing anyway, decking the block etc. You are more than half way there on a stock rebuild, for acouple of bucks more you get new rods...

    Stroke or no stroke?

Go for the gusto. Bigger displacement = bigger power. You will also require a less wild motor to achieve your power goals with respect to cams and compression ratio. I myself am considering a 408. Car craft reviewed a CHP 408 which had 8:1 comp. victor jr, performed intake and a hyd. roller. The...

    Wrecked hopes / Fond Memories

YES YES YES YES, you said it. The bastard should be made to cough up every nickel required to fix the car. I would lose it, I don't know what I'd do and it sounds like my car is a far cry from his.

    beat but not by much!!

What have you got done to your car? My wife has a new GT, and while I love driving it, it's a pig. My brother and I keep wanting to put a blower on it (unbeknownst to my wife) so when I drive it I don't have to look away if there is a hot rod next to me. As far as the street racing comments...

another flaming river steering box ???

as far as the power steering, it uses the same stuff as production. You can search for 66 stuff but thats tough to get everything but it's out there. Mustangs unlimted sells a brand new centerlink/control valve if you want that route. I personally am using a 67 control valve and slave with a new...

best year for the 302 block?

I am guessing the question is which is the most durable production block? They typically are late 60's 302's/289's. They have the heaviest castings especially around the mains where the late model blocks fall short. I have also heard and early 80's truck block is good as well.

    Export brace options...

Here is my deal, I jacked the car last night by the crossmember, as of this morning, there was no noticable change. In the meantime, while the towers are settling (hopefully) I will get the rest of the nose off. Initial observation seems to show about a 1/2" difference between the towers and am...

Oh great, steering problems...need some thoughts here guys

Sounds like the standard piece of junk Mustang steering box. Worked like crap from the day it rolled off Henry's line!!!!! You know, I love the Mustang, but it must be one of the biggest piles of crap that ever rolled off of an assembly line!

    Export brace options...

I just retried it tonight and don't actually have a problem. It seems I need to spread the towers a 1/4" or so but thats it. I don't know what I was thinking.

    Installing TCP export brace

I am finding it interesting that people are saying these cars should not be off much. Most anyone I know with these cars say the towers settle and need to be relaxed before getting the export brace on. My car specifically has settled towards the fire wall a bit. The width seems ok though.

    Export brace options...

best way to settle the towers back to install brace What is the best way to get the towers back forward as they typically settle back towards the firewall over time? I heard hanging the front end overnight should do it. Any suggestions?
