    Reinforcing UCA's in a 66

Nice work ! Just courious, why didn't you make the plate full size ? The area known to crack is around the ball joint.

    Modified coil spring covers

It was me. The reason for the mod is to make room for wheels with more backspacing and a lot of camber. The bottom photo shows how my tire was hitting the shock tower cover till I made them smaller. I welded a plate over the cut out part to make it strong again. The bump stop didn't get moved, I...

    Clutch Chatter... So Now What???

Sorry the torques trap didn't help much  Did you put some preload on it? I take mine past being snug. It pulls the motor down a bit on the drivers side.

    Clutch Chatter... So Now What???

A torque strap will help and might totally remove the chatter. Our 65 coup had chatter after three new clutches and I was at the end of my rope. I put a torque strap from the drivers side head down to the sway bar mount and it was gone, gone for good. That was 8 years ago.

    front suspension help

Our GT front coil is a 480lb spring and work great on the early Falcons and early Mustangs. The 560lb spring is too stiff for a 65-66 street car IMO. I do think more than 2deg. of positive caster is better but on a manual steer car, it can make parking a pain. I advise 2deg+. positive for the...

    front suspension help

We run these settings on all of our street cars. 0 - camber 2deg. positive caster 1/8" toe-in The camber and caster should be the same on both sides and we do not set the cars for road crown.

lowering rear of car w/o blocks (long)

You could just cut the middle out of a couple of leafs and add them to the top of the leaf pack. That would give you adjustment in small amounts. I tore the leafs apart again in our 66 coup to change the ride height by 1/2".

Dual Quad fit in a 65?

The early 65 , 3 piece motor mounts hold the motor about 1" lower than the later 65-66 mounts. I lowered the Cleveland in our 65 an extra 3/4" by modding the early 3 piece mounts. I've seen those on several 65-66 cars so you can do it.

How much ground clearence is to little?

When I played ball with my dog, the tennis ball would get stuck under the car. There are some parking lots I can't go into because of the driveway or speed bumps. If you know what your doing, you can drive a very low car but the headers will rub from time to time. I don't mind, never did. It's...

    Drilling for Shelby drop

I've been drilling them to 1/2" for years. The reason to go 17/32" is on the early cars where the shim stack can be off from side side, making the bolts go in angled. The larger holes gives the extra room needed for the bolts when they are at an angle. When I drill, no matter what template I...

How accurate does a Shelby drop jig need to be?

I agree, it's not a big deal. The holes can be off from the factory more than that. These cars were made to some " Loose " specs. for sure. I know several people who used the paper templates and ended up with holes that the arm wouldn't even go into. I am working with one of our...

Upper control arm shaft kit question

Well, I was done with this thread but you asked so I will pick just one. You said: "Welding on a tab to block the hex cap won't work in extreme cases, it doesn't unscrew, it works it's way straight off ". :bs: That is impossible. The shaft is threaded, the nut is threaded, it screws...

Upper control arm shaft kit question

Well, it's not a waste of time if you know what your doing. I've never herd that one before. The grease groove has been around for a long time and has been proven to work. If it didn't work, I wouldn't do it. Let me explain why it works for the rest of us. When the shaft kit gets some miles...

Upper control arm shaft kit question

I've seen them worn almost half way through. Not a good idea from the factory for sure but if you keep them greased, they do last a long time. Good luck :flag:

Upper control arm shaft kit question

/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ ----------------- \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ Make a small, narrow grove across the TOP of the shaft like this (I use a thin cut off wheel on a die grinder). It gives the grease a path to where it's needed most. It helps a lot to de-burr and pre-lube everything. Put the...
