Improving Clearance For Dash Speakers And Factory Door Wiring On An 89 Lx

It doesn't have the factory amp. It just came with the standard 4-speaker radio. The door wiring connector (at least for the passenger side) isn't close to the factory amp location.

Improving Clearance For Dash Speakers And Factory Door Wiring On An 89 Lx

I have an '89 LX 'vert that is mostly stock. After living with the crap-tastic factory cassette player for 20k miles, I finally decided to upgrade it. My car has the 4-speaker non-premium factory system. It has 2 dash speakers and 2 rear speakers, but it doesn't have door speakers. I have a...

    HELP! 1990 LX 5.0--DeAd

Ugh. I forgot to mention that. I already pulled codes and got a code 18. I looked it up on here and saw it is a SPOUT or wiring fault, but couldn't find much information about what to do about it. Thanks,

    HELP! 1990 LX 5.0--DeAd

The ignition is not new. I bought the car last summer with it installed. I have put probably 4-5k miles on it without any troubles before this. It is definitely getting spark -- I shocked the $*@# out of myself checking. I haven't checked the fuel pressure yet.

    HELP! 1990 LX 5.0--DeAd

My '90 LX has been acting up. It would run fine, and then die at random. (It was as if the car was turned off....dead.) It usually started again. I changed the fuel filter, cleaned the TPS and MAF. Well, it's still acting up. After work today, it just refused to run. It cranks fine...

    Help 1993 Mustang Just Died

That's a great checklist, thanks. My buddy just called and said his '90 5.0 LX sputtered, sounded like it was running on 3 cylinders, and died. We'll starat working on this list tonight. I know he has an aftermarket (MSD, I believe) ignition.

    Power Steering problem 89 5.0

My 89 5.0 LX has developed a problem this year. Once the car is warmed up, the power steering pretty much stops working at very low speeds. It feels fine when I start the car and pull it out of the garage, and I don't notice anything wrong when I'm driving around town or on the highway. But...

5.0 doesn't fire on first crank

Hey, I know this is a minor beef, but the stang started doing something over the last couple of weeks. After it has sat for several hours, my 89 5.0 won't fire when I first try to crank it over. If I stop cranking and then try it again it will fire right up on the second try. Once running, it...

    whats everyones daily driver?

My nice-weather daily driver is a modded 99 SVT Contour. It'll pull 28 mpg cruising at 85 w/ the air conditioning blowing. When the weather turns nasty (or when I have to haul stuff for work) I drive my longbed 01 F-150 XLT 4x4. I filled the tank this weekend and it cost me $55. Talk about...

Auto Tranny Question? Change brown fluid?

With engines, the motor oil provides lubrication, and the coolant dissipates heat. On automatic transmissions, the ATF has to serve both duties. It lubricates AND it dissipates heat. The additive packages that go into modern ATF break down over time, especially if the fluid is over-heated...

    Aod tv cable adjustment???

I have a pretty cool Ford service dept near my house. They adjusted the TV cable (using the gauge) and installed the bronze grommet from the Ford TSB and charged me $30. Considering the time and potential risks involved if the cable is out of adjustment, it seemed like money well spent to me...

She caught on fire today :(

A fire extinguisher is always a good thing to have in a car. Just make sure you get a good Halon one. The dry powder in standard fire extinguishers can cause huge problems with your under-hood components, and they aren't always good at putting out electrical fires. Just my $.02... Sam in...

    AOD Problem NOT TV cable.

:nice: LX302 and Legomaniac, I owe you my thanks. I got under the car today, dropped the pan and filter and found that the cork gasket for the filter was missing. I put everything back together with new gaskets all-around. I've driven it about 35 miles and the 1-2 shift is good and solid now...

    AOD Problem NOT TV cable.

Thanks for the advice. I'll stop by the parts store tomorrow and see if I can get one of those gaskets. I honestly don't remember if the new filter came w/ one or not -- It's been about 6 weeks since I changed the filter and did the trans flush. There was not a magnet in the pan when I pulled...

    AOD Problem NOT TV cable.

That's what I was afraid of. I had to literally grind the old pan gasket off with a bench-grinder, so I suspect that the fluid had never been changed before. Anyone else have another possiblity? Sam In Denver
