    Best Rear End Gear Oil

Yeah, no kidding. The factory stuff is hard to beat. Amsoil is some unreal stuff, I have seen it do things no other lubricant can in industry ASTM testing. Mobil is good, Royal Purple is decent, Redline is junk. For you guys running the Zexel Torsen and Eaton True-Trac, the F-series Superduty...

    90mm?

You really have a thing for big TB's and meters don't you? Can't think of a post I have read that you said "nope, too big" :D The stock TB is 55mm, or about 2-3/16". 90mm = 3-9/16". Your engine or anything for that matter can only flow as much as the smallest point of restriction, in this...

Yes, do some searches for "blow-through carb" or as most people spell it "blow-thru carb" setup.

    headgasket question

No you don't have to "shave heads" every time you pull them. There is a tool out there called a machinist's straight edge that you lay across and diagonally in several spots on a surface. A feeler gauge is used and the thickest one is used to slide under the straight edge to determine the level...

    School me on fan clutches

The fan will rotate full-time. The speed at which it rotates is determined by how much the clutch hub is engaged which is directly proportional to the engine temp. When it does fully lock-up, it will be a 1:1 ratio of the water pump speed. At this point it will basically sound like a Mack truck...

best way to build a 5.0?

Problem is, he was stating the question with a 5.0 block in mind. Easiest route, keep that 5.0 engine as stock as possible, and shove a power adder in that engine bay with it.

Engine no start, only with ether in throttle body, Help Please

This is what I would say as well, or more on the same subject, spark plug fire order. And for the love of God, do NOT spray that ether in the engine, I have seen engines lockup before due to the violent behavior it can exhibit. Also, I didn't hear anything about vacuum............???

    headgasket question

Just curious, where is the spark plug "broke off" at to have to remove the head? BTW, I would not go with Cometic, if you feel the need to run a MLS style gasket, go for the Fel-Pro version of them. I just ripped my pair off in disgust for seeping coolant out from between the layers...

    How to tighten strut

Ditto. You need the instantaneous torque of something like an impact gun.

Weird wear patterns on roller rockers

How are the bearings in it? How many rockers look like this in all?

How much is the Cobra Intake Hurting me?

As you probably know, the upper flows rather well, it is only the lower that would hurt. However, you are dealing with boost and not a N/A engine, boost overcomes a lot of restrictive obstacles (like intakes, TB's, ect.) It would be a toss up as to what way to go, personally I would up the boost...

How far can i push the stock 302?

That has always been the name of the game. You have to put parts together that work together.

Weird miss at higher rpms, need help

Make sure the plug gap is not gapped too large, all plug wires are sound or in other cases - no cheapies, check ignition timing (also make sure timing is not ATDC), check ignition components. Popping a lot of times though is improperly/overly advanced timing. As previously said, I have also seen...

    T5 value?

I personally wouldn't pay any more than $200 for it. If it is slightly grinding now, there would be no sense in putting it into a new donor vehicle knowing it would probably have to be pulled in 10-20k miles or so. It would need the price of a rebuild on top of the purchase price to be worthwhile.

Who has replaced their steering shafts?

Most manual rack conversions nearly require one. After pulling the stocker (hard to believe that the only thing connecting the steering wheel to the rack is a rubber disk 3/8" thick!!), I couldn't beleive how the hell the thing holds up. The replacement ones with U-joints are very nice and...

TKO 600 and bellhousing indexing - Is it necessary?

I found that to be such a run-around that it wasn't funny. I got the same deal, tko 600 and the mcleod (M-6392-c???) and I went ahead and threw my dial indicator on it anyway. From all the BS of learning to do it the right way, specs I can spit out is that any steel bellhousing needs .005" or...

    Knocking at startup

A loose piston to wall clearance would make a sound until warmed up (expansion), so I doubt it. If it only happens when it first starts up for a brief second, try a different oil filter first. The cheap ones and frams are famous for ****ty anti-drainback valves.
