    Hypothetical insurance question

Am in the process of selling my 65 fastback, ready to start another project. What is the best way to handle the sale? One of our local club members had her car stolen when she was handed a fake cashier's check. Looked ok at the bank but it had been "washed". It was purchased for a thousand...

    Pertronix coil cracked

Cracked coil My first thought was a mfg defect, especially with the big fat "Made in China" sticker on the bottom. Anybody knows who makes an American made coil?

    Pertronix coil cracked

Pertronix coil cracket No, it's mounted vertically. It's in an early '65 model, shoved down between the timing cover and the dipstick.

    Pertronix coil cracked

I have a 331 stroker with the Pertronix II ignition and added a Flamethrower coil about 3 years back. Car wouldn't idle this afternoon, after checking the ignition the coil has a large crack half-way around the coil wire nipple, down by the two terminals. Anyone else have this problem? I put...

Calling all SSBC disk brake kit owners!

SSBC / MC Pushrod Pull like heck to get it out. Had to put my M/C in a vise and pry the old pushrod out. There is a groove in the rod with an expansion clamp that won't allow it to come out. I tore the clamp up removing the pushrod. Tried using the pushrod that came with the M/C but it...

    Alternator - Voltage regulator problem

Halogen lights Yes, I've upgraded to newer halogen lights. Looks like a set of relays are in my future. Does anyone have a link to the writeup or the subject line header? I did a search yesterday on "headlight relays" and came up with 9 pages. Thanks, MikeR

    LED Tail lamps

I've held a pair in my hands During the National show in Louisville a dealer had a set out. They looked good but I can't justify the $139 price. PCB (printed circuit board) and set of white LED's with a controller shouldn't be more than $60 to manufacture.

    Alternator - Voltage regulator problem

Voltage drops Voltage drops off to 12.5 amps at idle when I have the headlights and foglamps on. Foglamps by themselves drop me to 13.5, then another amp falls off with the addition of the headlights. Is this normal? Thanks, MikeR

    Alternator - Voltage regulator problem

Charging 14 amps at idle Ok, so it runs and charges OK with the lights off. Problem is when the lights are on, and at idle. No problems when the car is cruising or the lights are off. Haven't tried running it at night with the lights and fog lights on. So I'm back to the voltage regulator...

    Alternator - Voltage regulator problem

NAPA alternator is not internally regulated I goofed, it isn't internally regulated. The alternator I ended up buying is externally regulated. Thought about the headlight switch too. Replaced it 3 years ago when I replaced the voltage regulator. Doesn't mean a lot though, it was a repop...

    Alternator - Voltage regulator problem

Hi Everyone, Just replaced the alternator on my '65 stang and had some problems coming back from the cruise Saturday night. Four times on the way home all the lights would go out, the car would stumble, then the lights would come back on and the car would run fine again. By all lights I...

    65 Mustang gas cap

Hi all, Just bought and installed a new Scott Drake gas cap with the safety wire. When I screw the cap closed it sits at an odd angle, the passenger side is a lot closer to the taillight panel than the drivers side. Is there a way to take the gas cap apart? The filler cap is flush with...

    Nickel, chrome, or ceramic Tri-Y's

Need an opinion. I currently have the hi-temp black tri-y's on my '65. The hi-temp paint lasted about 4 weeks, now I have the beautiful baked rust look. Want to switch but not sure about the advantages/disadvantages of the coatings above. Couldn't find any stainless tri-y's so I didn't...

65 Fastback - Help Me Build It

Just say no to "Granada" Had tons of bumpsteer issues with the Granada setup. Finally dumped them and put my stock V8 65 spindles back on with an aftermarket kit. Bumpsteer solved. I've heard there are new Granada spindles that have the arm lowered to match the 65 geometry, but going with...

    Prob a stupid question...

Crossmember jacking point The crossmember is the best jacking point when installing a Monte Carlo bar. Had to jack in the center and let the shock towers relax a couple of days to install. So using it as a jack point is good!
