When you shift your RPM should drop to ~3k or where the engine makes peak torque.

Best bang for the buck for handling on a hatchback?

 My car must be a freak. I guess its possible that the MC was swaped before I got it (5.0?). I changed to 5.0 spindles/rotors, added braided stainless hoses, stainless caliper bushings (all new parts) & all new hardware.

    Another wheel hop question?

I don't know anything about the granatelli's, whats adjustable? length, weight jackers (ride height) or both. Either way it sounds like you need stiffer control arms and either should do it. The lift bars will improve the suspension geometry for better traction and will flex less than the stock...

    Another wheel hop question?

I've been thinking about getting lift bars for mine after the 2.3T goes in. The turbo engine doesn't have the low end torque of a V8 so it shouldn't be "as" hard on the torque boxes (at least not as hard on 'em as the hop). With poly bushings I'd think its the control arms that are flexing. If...

Best bang for the buck for handling on a hatchback?

Rim/tire size are just a suggested minimum. 16's will get you a little better handling, more tire is also good. So I can't run the calipers & MC that have been on my '90LX for 2 years...:Damnit: wish someone woulda told me that sooner :rlaugh: Actually a lot of people say you can't run...

Best bang for the buck for handling on a hatchback?

FRPP "B" spring kit ~$135 (basically '86 5.0 springs) lowers a 4cyl ~1/2"F&R, front does not sit higher than rear. install is a PITA. 5.0 or Eibach anti-sway bars (Eibach are huge, about 1 7/16" front & 15/16" rear ~$275) easy install CC plates & good alignment (~$250) Poly bushings...

    Clutch suggestions

I'm not absaloutly sure but I think the T-5's in the 2.3N/A & 2.3T cars are the same except for the flywheel, clutch disk & pressure plate. I know the Turbo Coupes have a bigger clutch.

    t-coupe at junkyard

Got one by me too, I already got the computer, VAM & rear calipers. Prolly go back for the turbo. Possibly blown engine or trans, I don't see any other reason for it to be there.

    Opinions on Brakes

Bought the calipers at NAPA, mid 80's Lincoln MkVII I think. Had to tell them I wanted steel pistons. I still have the 2.3 MC in mine  could be upgraded but still stops better than the 4cyl rotors/calipers. I'll be swaping it for a 94-98 V6/GT unit when I do the Turbo Coupe rear disk swap.

    Explorer 8.8 Rearend

I'm not sure of the width of a mustang rearend but if I remember right an Explorer is about 59" WMS->WMS. Other than that, the Explorer is leaf spring & Mustangs are coil/4-link. Explorer axles are a very popular swap into Jeeps, about 1" narrower w/4.10's & LSD.

    4cyl components?

If I remember right the width of the gears is smaller in the 4cyl T-5 making it weaker than the V8 version.

    Opinions on Brakes

From what you have now I'd say go to SVO/Lincoln/Police vehicle calipers (steel piston) & upgrade the rear to T-Bird Turbo Coupe disks. With what you have now you should be able to do this for about $500. IMHO the only reason to go 5 lug is for a larger selection of rims.

    hit 17's tonight

Got a few runs in last night, 19.00, 19.19 & 19.54 (missed 3rd gear). speed was ~70-71mph for all of them. the 2 faster ones were east & west passes on the same road (wind?). This is all bone stock except for a gutted intake silencer & no belt on the A/C, also removed the back seat & spare tire...

Has anyone removed P/S on an 87-93?

The Flaming River rack will work, I'd go to a bone yard and look for a manual rack first (from an early fox body or ???). Why spend the money for a new copy of a pinto rack ($150 to save 10lb.)? I havent taken mine off yet but I'm planing to, probably lose ~50lb and get back some HP. the A/C...
