    Best bet is to find an '87- '88 Tbird TC or Cougar XR7 and use it as a donor car... they are dirt cheap and have all the high performance parts you need if you really want to build power. While they are not the only turboford you can use, they are the best of the lot for the following reasons...

    Yeah, sounds like you found an early Turbo Cobra. They were produced from '79 - '82. They were the "hot" Mustang of the day when the 5.0L was pretty anemic. Sounds like you already know the downside of the draw-through setup. Not very reliable, and limited for power gains.

    I see the Chebby dude has been delt with. The Turbo 2.3l is a great engine for both performance and economy. Can be built up to produce some serious horsepower on a budget, yet retain decent street manners. Best if you can find an '87-'88 T-Bird TC as a donor car for the engine and tranny.
