    1973 Mach 1

Welcome to :SNSign: Thank you for your service! Former Navy here, but Semper Fi! Now onto the car. Judging by the pics, I don't see anything that can't be fixed. It always comes down to money and how much you are willing to spend. Honestly, I have seen way worse. I think most of the...

    Aluminum Trim

There was an episode of Overhaulin where they brushed the chrome and SS trim. If you aren't looking for the weight savings, that might be an option. I tried to find the episode on YT, but only the first half was on there, and it didn't show the brushed stuff.

    two great companies

Yep, there are still a few good ones left. I don't have any that are mustang specific, but Taylor-Made golf, and H&K small arms have a loyal costumer in me.

Rear Frame Rail / Trunk Floor

I haven't gotten to it yet, but I am going to have to replace/repair the last foot or so of my rear frame rails. Mine are rusted through at the rear shackle pick up point. You might check out this article. They used new frame rails, but I imagine if you could find a donor it might...

    Power Steering Pump Toast!

I've had mine both ways. I think I prefer leaving the pump in minus the pulley and belts with the hoses hooked up. Seems like there would be less chance of dirt getting into the system that way, but like I said, the PO didn't have it hooked up for 3 years and all I did was install a pump and go.

    Power Steering Pump Toast!

When I bought my car the PO said the power steering pump had not been hooked up for the 3 years or so he owned the car. I drove the car for 6mos before finally buying a pump and hooking it up. When I did it worked fine. At speed it isn't even that bad, but parking lots and parallel parking...

    After 3 1/2 years IT'S ALIVE! (pics)

Very Nice. Can't wait to see the finished product. I am just getting started on my car, and posts like this one keep me motivated. My build will take 4+ years, and when I see people that have done the same or similar it gives me hope. Keep the pics coming.

    65-66 ignition cylinder

I asked a friend of mine about this. He has been a locksmith for a long time, and he thinks you will either have to drill it, or have a locksmith pick it for you. He thought he might be able to make a key by feel, but it would take a long time, and of course that will cost more.

    Independent Rear Suspension?

DVS Restorations makes a kit, but I can't say anything about it. I haven't used it or know anyone who has. http://www.dvsrestorations.com/irs.html

    Thank you. I found it.

    Torsional rigidity test: 67 coupe

Oh crap! I just re-read my post and I see the confusion. I didn't bend a piece of tube in the same size and diameter that you would be using. The fenders just happen to be off my car so I took some vague measurements and made a smaller piece of tubing to scale or as close as I could. I am...

    mod motor retrofit kits??

Cool I was just curious sounds like a fun project. As for a cheaper better option there may very well be one. I haven't researched it myself I just happen to know about the Griggs setup. I am sure you will get some better responses from others.:)

    mod motor retrofit kits??

Not exactly a retrofit, or cheap, but Griggs Racing makes the Gr-350 Front end with a K member for the 4.6L. There are some pics here: http://www.griggsracing.com/oldsite/gallery/70mach1/page.html Depending on what your goals are there probably are some cheaper options, but I get the...

    Torsional rigidity test: 67 coupe

I'm no engineer so keep that in mind with my response. I grabbed a piece of tubing and bent it in a similar shape to your picture and looked for weak spots. (not real scientific I know) I seems like to me it will put stress on the shock covers, and as you noted you would beef them up pretty...

    Torsional rigidity test: 67 coupe

:rlaugh: For some reason that one caught me off guard! Seriously though, Bnickel, I know you are not a fan of the MII setup, and I have read why in several different posts, but I was wondering your opinion of the Griggs GR350. Comparing it to the MII may be apples to oranges in terms of...

    Another Cowl thread

Well, when I finish stripping the car it is going to media blast, so I think I might just pull the cowl vent and do it right. I don't want to find out I should have done this after the new paint and interior are in the car. Thanks for the help -Dan

    Mustangs and Fords Magazine

Cool! Mine is about 9 mos & 75lbs in that pic. He is closer to 80-85 lbs now. They grow fast. This is my first GSD, and I amazed at what a good boy he is. "They" say they will give back ten times what you put into them and so far "they" have been right. Have fun with yours! And thanks...

    Torsional rigidity test: 67 coupe

Are you thinking of tying it into the shock towers like in this link? If so Bnickel's idea of using the GW or making your own would work, as long as you leave clearance for maintenance to the shock/springs.

    Another Cowl thread

Yep, no water coming into the car. I pulled the plugs on the cowl to try and get a better look in there, and there is some rust, but it is not through. Now the tricky part. Anyone have any tips on how they cleaned up their cowl and preserved it with out removing the vent?
