    Starter Noise

Before I put my car away for the season it almost sounded like the starter was spinning when I tried to start the car. In the past any time I had a starter go out, I would get the tell tale clicking noise and would first replace the solenoid then the starter if necessary. Now it sounds like a...

Time for new 225/60/15's ... need help

Snow and ice won't be a problem. The car has never seen either one, and never will. I was thinking about the BFG G-Force Sport until I started reading reviews on the Tire Rack site. Every review trashed these tires. Thats what got me asking questions. The biggest complaint was the amount of tire...

Time for new 225/60/15's ... need help

[/I] I posted this question on another site and someone also suggested Kumho's. I'm going to have to give them a closer look. PS ....... Four Eyes Forever!!

Time for new 225/60/15's ... need help

Just like it says. I am replacing the stock size tire on my 85 GT and of course can't find any decent replacements. I've read reviews on a couple brands at Tire Rack and nothing stands out. They are all pretty bad. I am trying to maintain a stock look with the original 10 holes and do not want...

    Axle Bearings and Seals

I've posted this on a couple other sites and been told I'm good to go. I feel a lot better knowing I did this right instead of driving around for the next week waiting for something to go wrong. Of course if I had taken the time to look at the old bearings and seals before I pulled them I...

What do you make of this?

Still don't understand why he's saying there is a computer in your car. Sounds like he is confusing the ignition box for a computer. Either way that needs to stay if you plan on using your original or even an MSD distributor. I would suggest replacing the stock ignition box with an MSD6.

What do you make of this?

There is NO computer in an carbed 85 GT, unless it has or had fuel injection. Some of the 85 models that came out later in the year did have fuel injection. Are you sure the carb and intake are original? Also if he is pulling the smog pump make sure that the holes in the back of the heads are...

    Axle Bearings and Seals

I am currently installing new bearings and seals in an 8.8 rear end in my 85 GT. I noticed when I was putting in the seals, that when they were tapped in place (just inside flush with the end of the housing) that they did not come in contact with the bearings outer edge. Is this correct? There...

Help with my Smog Head Crossover Pipe,do i just cap it off???

Do not just cap the smog lines off. You might decide to reuse them some day. Get these. http://store.summitracing.com/egnsearch.asp?N=700+115+311030&D=311030 PS .... Also, order two. They don't come in pairs.

    wheel back spacing question.

I agree that the 4.5" BS sticks the tire and rim out to much, but I have the 5.5" BS with 1/4" spacer and have no rubbing and they look great.

    To anyone who has 3.73s

At first I wished I had gone with 3:73's, but now with the gas prices the way they are I'm glad i went with 3:55's. The car cruises at 2500 RPM's at 75 MPH. Nice and comfortable.

    17 X 9 Rims For Fox Body

The Drag Lites I run for the track are 15X8 rears with 5.5" backspacing. The tires are 275/50/15. I have to use 1/4" wheel spacers to keep the inside of the tires from rubbing the inner fender wells. Fronts are 15X3.5 with no backspacing that I remember. The front tires are Kumho's that are...

    17 X 9 Rims For Fox Body

The title about says it all. I have an 85 GT and want to mount 17 X 9 rims with 235/45 17 tires in the front and 275/40 17 in the back. I've been told I have to swap out the spindles for 87 and up versions. This would also mean that I would have to replace rotors and struts. I would like to...

    Alum. vs. Steel Flywheel

Thanks for that info. It kind of reinforces what I've been thinking. The car is a street car and I don't want to have to change my driving habits. The more I read about it the more I think I will just find a stock flywheel and call it a day. The $300 I save on the flywheel is my clutch and a new...

    Alum. vs. Steel Flywheel

I'm not intentionally picking on Summit. Its the same clutch assembly sold by Jegs, Brothers, and all the aftermarket companies. The point being that they are all Chinese/Korean knock-offs. The consumer has no idea. They figure if it says Ford, Centerforce, Ram etc that it is American made and...

    Alum. vs. Steel Flywheel

While I was at the clutch shop the owner took me back to the machine that resurfaces flywheels and showed me the difference between a US flywheel and a Chinese flywheel. The flywheel made with US steel shaved evenly. The Chinese flywheel chunked metal off. Almost impossible to resurface. Also he...

    Alum. vs. Steel Flywheel

I spoke with the owner of South Bend clutch this morning. He has every clutch and flywheel imaginable. His opinion was that the aluminum was better for circle track racing or drag racing with a light car that was looking for more low end torque but not concerned so much with top end. The steel...
