    Rare Cobra Scattershield?

Recently on ebay looking at early stang parts for sale and saw an ad for a 1 piece steel scattershield with Cobra marked on it. The seller in his ad says 289 Hipo, K-code, Shelby, 6 bolt Cobra Wedge steel bell housing scattershield. He has it priced at almost 1500 dollars intimating it to be...

    leaky rear axle seal

Thanks - I will do that next time - I've also got to take a look at the front brakes. Do the front calipers retract the same way or is it just the rears?

Thanks for all the help guys - I think I dodged a bullet as the calipers appear to be OK - will continue to monitor them to be sure.

    leaky rear axle seal

Uh-Oh, now I'm wondering if I screwed up her calipers when I compressed them. The brakes appeared to work fine when I was finished - do you think I should replace the calipers when I go back to replace the axle seal?

    leaky rear axle seal

Thanks for the info - good stuff - sounds like piece of cake - I ran in to what you said about the difficulty compressing the calipers when I was doing the brakes. I thought at first they might be frozen up - took 12" crescent on the c-clamp to get-r-done.

    leaky rear axle seal

While replacing the brakes on my daughters 95 mustang noticed the right rear axle was leaking oil; not a lot but should be replaced. I've never done one on a disk brake rear so looking for tips. I assume have to start by removing diff cover and removing c clips and then axle - do I have to...

    leaky gas tank

My daughters 95 Mustang has developed a leak where the fill pipe attaches to the gas tank. It appears there is a gasket there and is likely the culprit. Has anyone had this problem and if so what is the fix?

    Cutch problems

Went down to the garage to look at old 1 piece Cobra scattershield I still have with original 65 fork still in it - it would not be removable in the car. If you have a 2 piece Bell housing you might be able to remove the fork. My thoughts are with Pabear - weld repair it (inplace) and drive...

    VIN lookup needed.

The first digit 5 is the model year = 1965, second digit T is assembly plant = Metuchen, 3rd and 4th digit 07 = coupe, fifth digit T is engine size = 200 CID I6; and 6th thru 11th digits represents the Ford car number built that year at that plant starting with 100001.

    upgraded ignition

I use the Petronix igniter with an original yellow top Ford coil and am very happy. If the old coil ever goes out I would upgrade to the flamethrower. This is all in a 66 daily driver.

    Advise please on LED Taillights

I saw some of the above mentioned lights on display on a bright sunny day in Seattle a couple of weeks ago at a Mustang show. They appeared brighter than stock lights and very reasonable - under 100 bucks I thought. I wish I had gotten a card from the guy selling them but they were the same...

please help, not getting enough voltage from amp

That battery voltage is a little low but to be expected if it's not being charged. With the engine running check the voltage at the battery with a digital volt meter - if it's being charged by the alternator it will read somewhere around 13.5 to 14 volts. If not I would take the alternator to...

    shop to watch out for

I live in the Seattle area so can not be accused of ties to Mustang Shoppe in SD - in fact I've never heard of them. Did they try to get you to immediately have them repair your trans or send you to a trusted/recommended shop? That would further arouse my suspicion. Seems to be a thing with...
