Conv. Top Fabric Pulled Away From Top Rails - Balloon Car!

I had an issue where the front rib came loose from my top as well. I went to a shop that specializes in convertable tops and the word I got was replace the top. My top is 10 years old, but just like new since my car stays in the garage. I purchased and tested over 6 different types of...

    65 Suspension Question

I've been there a few times, but I don't stay very long. I'd rather be driving than sitting. I'll try to get there this weekend. Jim

5.0 harness....is it hard to wire in?

I second the Probest book Yeloxr7 called out. It'll help with the wiring, and includes how to pull the codes and what they are without buying scanner. I had 7 codes to clear after I did the conversion in '97. I had a bad barometric sensor, bad TFI module (I don't recommend a mallory EFI...

    65 Suspension Question

you're in Orlando. Florida I assume. I'm also in Orlando, but this is a big town. Keep your eyes open for a dark green '66 convertable with a tan top and an EFI engine. PM me and maybe we can get together, you can compare my stance etc. to get an idea of where you want to be. I used to...

Shelby A-arm Relocation and Lowering Questions

I know this isn't the classifieds, but in tune with the discussion, I have a set of promotorsports neg wedges that I am no longer using if anyone is interested in them. I still have the steel plate that relocates the upper A-arm and ball joints on my car. Only thing I can sell are the...

    Rack and Pinion upgrade

I used to have sloppy power steering also on my '66, even though I rebuilt everything. I think the main problem was with the rebuilt box. The use of 235 tires in the front also tend to grap every rut in the road as well. If flaming river boxes were available when I did mine, things may have been...

I'll blow it up, I swear!

Krash, funny you mentioned the drain plug. Had the same idea. I did that once, in too much of a hurry, late night, needed to study for exams. Sure does make a lot of noise. I ruined the flex plate also. Luckily a local shop had one. This stupid mistake cost me about $40 for the plate (in...

    65 convertible sheet metal question?

I had the same problem on my '66, but not to that extent. I could not find the part as a new replacement in '97, so I fabricated and welded sheet metal in myself. The hardest part was getting all the dead metal out and blasting the cancer away. A friend of mine was able to get this section...

    EFI Fuel system pics....

I am using the drain for the return. I haven't had any problems, but then again I usually keep the tank over 1/4full. Anyhow, if I were SCCA or other track racing, I would opt for a baffled tank. If you are just running on the street, I don't see a need to waste your money.

EFI help needed - coolant lines

I used to have the heater lines running directly to the 5.0L steel lines on my '66. The rubber hose was a pain to get on because of how close to the firewall they were, and the fact that one of the steel hoses is larger in diameter. After about 6 years in this configuration, I ended up blowing...

8K Repro Rally Pac, anyone using?

I have in interest in getting one of the new '66 low profile 8K rally pacs. Is anyone currently running one (didn't see anything in a search)? If so, any thoughts on its quality? thanks in advance, Jim

65: Power steering, Granada brakes, Shelby drop, and bumpsteer- HOW?

I am using the Dr Gas (Pro Motorsports) bumpsteer on my 66 Mustang with PS granada discs. Note that I converted to TCP power rack about 4 years ago and had to change the driver side outer tie rod to a manual part, but in both cases (stock PS and TCP PS) I used the stock Mustang tie rods. The Dr...

    65-66 Manual Trans Brake Boosters

I have successfully installed this kit on my 66 convertible with 5.0L EFI and Wilwood Hydraulic clutch. Note that I am no longer running the stock convertible shock tower braces. I had to use a Maier Racing brace with export brace integrated with it to clear the EFI intake. Works great even at...

Help me pick some rear leafs

I have a set of the Mustang Plus Magma 4 1/2 leaf mid eyes on my 1966 Mustang convertible. They have been on the car since 1998 with about 12K miles on them. My car sits funny now because I removed the 1 5/8" drop I used to be running up front due to my hooker long tubes and fender clearance...

Damn it, starting problems when hot

good ideas already posted. I had an issue with hot starts on my 65. Turned out to be a worn bushing on the bendix gear, causing it to bind when the engine and thus the starter was at operating temp. Fixed it for less than a big mac.

    Power brakes

yes. NPD carries the new kits that use the stock non-boosted pedal. I am sure most of the bigger Mustang shops have these kits now.

    Total Control Products Rack Questions??

I have the TCP power rack on my '66. I am using the stock 87-93 style PS pump. It causes the rack to make noise, similar to water running through pipes in a house. Note that the noise IS NOT the pump, but it is a result of the pump. TCP recommends the KRC pump, but there is not one available...

Who is interested in a turbo kit??

I'm interested in either a single or twin for 5.0 EFI with intercooler for a 1966 Mustang. The kit must be able to clear the stock style '87-93 Mustang A/C and P/S pumps and the stock 1966 Mustang shock towers though. I started down the path for a KB charger, but ran into concerns that there...
