    You could use a propane torch and heat the bolts up. It will then come off much easier :)

    Well I ran into the same problem but the car has 150k miles on it. I had to pull the gauge cluster out and replace the trip/odometer gear. There is also another gear back there that drives them which is called the worm gear. I have a web address for both gears if you need them. Both these...

    Did you resolve the problem? Also when you went over the railroad tracks was it like a big bump? If so my bet is on the inertia switch.
