    DIY gear installers, rear end guys... chime in.

    I will say that if you are mechanically inclined with good instructions and all the right tools, that it is definatly "do-able". I did my own gears on the '91 I used to have, and it was pretty easy. I did have a friend who had done gears before helping me out a little though.

    If the top motor works when you tap it with a hammer or screwdriver handle, that usually means the brushes on the inside are jammed up.     I agree with what was stated above, except I would suggest going with 4.10 gears. I have the 4.10's and love them in my automatic LX Convertible. They are great for a better launch at the track and not too bad on the street. Sean

    I don't think you are losing much at all. If anything, I have heard that most vert owners take off the factory braces in order to get a better fit with the SFC's. I dont have SFC's installed yet, but I am going to take my factory braces off. Sean

    If your block is good, I would rebuild that. Use that same $3195, to buy some new heads and intake and stuff. 320HP will probably only be around 275 to the wheels. I know you can get 305 RWHP with a 306, afr165's and a cobra intake. Plus add the usual bolt-ons. Sean

    I have seen the info you provided and that was the basis of my question. The thing that is throwing me off is the BFG Ad that says a 255/50-16 tire will fit on rims 7.0 to 9.0 inches. I think there has to be some safety margin built in to that manufacturer spec., just for them to be on the safe...

    Anybody running 255/50-16 on stock pony rims?

    Most people say you get wheel hop once you take the quad shocks off and I think people go as wide as 275's with no quad shock. I have also heard that the exhaust pipes can rub the tire once you get to the point to where you have to remove quad shocks.:shrug: Sean

    Thanks for the replies. I was finally able to go jack up the front to look for loose stuff. Everything seemed fine until I got to the wheels. I shook them front to back and top to bottom.     sample tube???

    If you are talking about the tube in the maf, i have heard that if you rotate the maf sensor, it is supposed to put the sample tube in a better location to get a better air sample. Did that make any sense? Maybe someone else can get more technical for you.

    Hazzard light problem

    I am guessing that it is a faulty switch. My hazzards only work if I play with the switch a little(by moving it slowly from off to on) then they start working. Maybe this is another common problem like the dimmer switch. Good luck finding the problem. Sean
