Recent thoughts on that BBK SSI intake?

Thanks a lot! That was a good read. As it stands now, I will most likely be going with the SSI intake.

Recent thoughts on that BBK SSI intake?

Thanks for the reply Dman. I have seen the edelbrock intake as well and it looks a reasonable option. My main interest in the BBK intake is the unique look to it, even if its not the best bang for the buck on the market. So you think the big valve head may be overkill? I understand for best...

Recent thoughts on that BBK SSI intake?

I have a 67 coupe thats going to get a 5.0L HO when I put it back together and I wanted to get the experts' opinions on the BBK SSI intake. I searched, but there wasn't too much recent info here. My goals with the engine build are not all out power. I'll be happy with 300rwhp and I would...

    front frame rail replacement help

Have you already removed the driver side torque box? You have to remove that if you want to pull the frame rail out. To separate the frame rail from the floor support, there are something like 10-12 spotwelds on each side and some on the bottom. Just wire wheel the paint off and you will be able...

    Unisteer Rack & Pinion

This is one of the reasons Im happy Im building a turbocharged straight 6 200. No exhaust tubes to contend with on the steering shaft side. Has anyone else gotten this rack installed though and can give us some more real world feedback on steering effort and road feel?

    V-8 to 6 swap

Very good point. Maybe I missed it, but what year is the car. 67 and up the steering mechanism and most, if not all, of the suspension is the same. 65 and 66 the 6 cylinders had different, and weaker, steering and suspension systems from the 8 cylinders.

    V-8 to 6 swap

Unless he is intending to drive like a granny, then yes its unsafe. With the added weight and power of a V-8, the i6 suspension and braking systems are going to be woefully inadequate. Chances are that car will handle and stop like a total pig. If he doesn't intend to change the related systems...

    I swapped out

Definitely go read up on www.fordsix.com. They have great forums there for people who want more out of their straight 6's. Also, check out its parts site at www.classicinlines.com for a large variety of performance parts available. The biggest restriction to these engines though is the...

Met the girl of my dreams today

Remember, red wines go best with pasta. Just try and pick out a decent cabernet or merlot. My personal favorite is Chianti. If you have the cash and inclination, go buy a random bottle of each and see which one you like best. Just steer clear of anything in a box! No Boone's or Franzia!

    67 mustang GT??

That GT after your engine code has no bearing on whether or not your car came with the GT options package. Its just a monikor for the engine, which I think started when the 390 was optional for the thunderbird. (Thats just hearsay though, I never verified it). With all the stuff stripped off...

Need your expertise on a possible frankenstang.

Unfortunately, it looks like the ad may have run last week too. The car is already sold. Thanks for the response though.

Need your expertise on a possible frankenstang.

Need your expertise on a possible purchase I saw an ad in the paper that seems too good to be true, so I thought I would solicit some responses here. The ad reads like this: 1993 Ford Mustang LX, Turbo 4-cyl, Garrett T3 Turbo, under 50k miles 5 spd with phase 2 clutch, runs great, quick...

    Tensioner Pulley replacement

Are you trying to remove just the pulley? Im not sure you can do that. I just replaced mine and I had to remove the 3 bolts holding the tensioner assembly to the block, and then install a brand new assembly. You can either get a replacement aluminum assembly, or a slightly more expensive steel...

Going to look at a 99 Cobra. Advice needed!

Thanks for all the replies. Unfortunately that car was sold before I got there. The good news is that I am looking at another 99 on monday that is in pristine condition based on the pictures, and the owner wont sell it before I get there. It doesn't have any mods except for Bassani X-pipe...

Going to look at a 99 Cobra. Advice needed!

Thanks for the idea of calling Ford Performance. They verified that it has had all the recall work done. I haven't committed yet, but it looks like a decent deal so far.

Going to look at a 99 Cobra. Advice needed!

Im probably going to go look at a 99 Cobra this weekend and I was curious whether there is anything specific to that model year I should know about. Its a black on black, 1 owner coupe with 80k miles. Supposedly never raced, engine and tranny are stock, and it has a clean carfax. Owner said it...

    3-point seatbelt install

Yeah it was on there really tight. I just hand tightened the new when I put it on. Tomorrow I'll check to see how the dipstick measures and mark it as necessary.

So I went to change the oil yesterday...(tech related)

Great news. Im new to Fox mustangs so I have a lot to learn. I always replace the filter during an oil change, so I wont forget about that. I just need to get that SOB off. Its too cramped to get my filter wrench in there and I haven't been able to move it by hand yet. I assume the oil filler...
