    LOL, Now THIS is rustproofing

Here you go! This was the last pic I ever took of the underside one season later. The grease is still running strong, more "streamlined" and gooey. My homemade welds for the subframe connectors did not hold onto the grease at all and ended up picking up rust but only around the weld bead. One...

    LOL, Now THIS is rustproofing

It stayed on there over a year and a half. It got a lot less gooey and a lot more like a thin coat of clay or putty. It wore off in some places but stayed put in the little valleys and places like the torque boxes that rust. In other words, as long as you dont need to rummage under the car, this...

Aaaah...the memories. There is still a dark dark area in the middle of the garage floor: the site of this glorious event in automotive history. One day, wise scholars will look back on this and say...CrazyPete...he was a pioneer, a true visionary. His groundbreaking automobile preservation and...

    LOL, Now THIS is rustproofing

Well....the cool part is, if I ever want to buy the car back....I'll know the frame will be in excellent condition (as long as he stores it belly-up that is)

    LOL, Now THIS is rustproofing

LOL....final outcome. Sounds so ominous. The grease stayed put for a looooooong time, eventually becoming streamlined (extra mpg!) and thicker as is collected dust. I had many interesting conversations with mechanics in the meantime, some who unwisely ignored my warnings to be wary of the...

    LOL, Now THIS is rustproofing

One day......thousands of years from now, achealogists digging for the fabled city of "boston", a settlement long lost to history and the sands of time will striketh their shovels upon a metallic object. After much careful excavation, they will see before them a strange 4 wheeled object with a...

    LOL, Now THIS is rustproofing

Hey...thats a great idea! The feathers will generate lift and in so doing, reduce surface friction and improve my gas mileage. Plus, if I have a cooperative passenger, we could flap the feathered doors and make the car leap over obstacles and slow drivers in front of me ;) LOL! Keeping the...

    LOL, Now THIS is rustproofing

Woooooohooooooo! :D:D:D Keep the thread alive! You know I love you guys! LOL! I've graduated from grease to silicone tire spray. Makes a bigger mess faster. Plus, it makes the paint all shiny! I was siliconing up my audi a4 (daily driver) this weekend. I feel the extra slipperyness...

    LOL, Now THIS is rustproofing

Wazzaaaaaaap! :D:D Someone called? I have been summoned! Oh man! This thread brings back the memories! Well, Menard's has the car. I told him it was a "custom undercoating" (LOL!!!). Well, actually, he had noticed while trying to secure the battery that there was a "greasy substance" on...

    LOL, Now THIS is rustproofing

The undercoating was still heavy and gooey after over a year. In the leading edges of the subframes, the grease "wore off" and these areas picked up some rust. I would do these edges with rubber if I had to do it again. Overall, it was a good idea and it worked but it's very messy and on...

Are longtubes "free" torque or is the torque a result of better flow?

So is it a net decrease of a fraction of a MPG or a net increase of a fraction of a MPG? I'm trying to get it back to it's 25 mpg glory and I liked the underhood space offered by my unequal shorties. So if the longtubes are hurting me, I would love to go back to my shorties. Thats all.

Are longtubes "free" torque or is the torque a result of better flow?

Hi guys. The title says it all. I am running mac 1 5/8 longtubes and I am wondering if the extra torque is due to wonderous exhaust pulse effects and reduced backpressure or am I now flowing extra air through the engine? I am thinking of this entierely from a mileage perspective.

Duraspark box: When powered up, should case be HOT?

How do the aftermarket Boxen do? I'll be mounting the Hi-6 where the duraspark box is: the old battery location up against the inner fender as far forward as it can be. Will I cook it?

Duraspark box: When powered up, should case be HOT?

So the basic problem is that I'm a moron. I.....get this........hooked up the battery backwards. Thats right, I switched the terminals. I might have cooked the ignition system. It wasnt sparking much but I also didnt test it much. Not much to do now but the floating sparkplug on a wire...

    AFR heads, intake/cam?

I've got an Ed curtis/FTI cam for sale over on corral made for AFR165's, edelbrock performer, 570 carb, 1 5/8 longtubes, mac prochamber, 3.73's and an automatic. It's designed for low-midrange torque (street cam), emissions, economy and idle quality while still bringing out the best of the...

Duraspark box: When powered up, should case be HOT?

Well that is the funny part. It works...or worked. I need to check tonight to see if the huge spark at the alternator connection didnt kill it. Now the only thing about the wiring is that I didnt install a "ballast resistor" whatever that is. Could that be the problem. Looks like the...

Duraspark box: When powered up, should case be HOT?

We noticed last night that when the key is in the ON position, the duraspark box heats up so much, it is almost too hot to touch. I dont know if it did this before the spark incident where I grounded the main + wire running inside the cabin since I wasnt paying attention to it at the time. It...
