    AC Compressor problem

So the AC hasn't blown cold on my 2000 V6 in a while and I just decided to get around to taking a look at it. When I turn on the AC the compressor only kicks on for a couple seconds at a time, then shuts off. Is there a way to tell if this is a clutch problem, a bad compressor, or a lack of freon?

    Rear End noise

Last night I bought new snow tires, after throwing them on and taking them for a test drive, the very car knowledgeable guy I bought them from noticed a wub-wub-wub type of sound coming the cars rear end. I had noticed something like it before, but just chalked it up to tire/road noise. He...

    GT-500 production starts today 1/23/06

I figured it was either Shelby, a very high-up ford exec, or even ford itself. It's a charity donation (everything above the actual value is deductible), and it creates a buzz for the product to get a number that high. Pure marketing exercise.

12:01 AM Sunday - Pics and Specs Released GT500

You're almost gauranteed on losing money if you do that. Even if you just put it in a low risk investment, the money will be worth much more in 30 years than that car, even if the car is one of the extremely, unbelievably rare cars which increases in real worth over a long time period. Better...

    05 rwhp...anyone know?

Dyno numbers are all over the place, like said above, they rely on a measurement, and then several correction factors that can heavily influence the measurement. It's like we're all trying to measure the same thing with different rulers. Just because you're ruler say's it's longer, that...

    Idle surge

I replaced the battery (it was the orginal that came with the car 6 years ago), now it idles smoothly. Cold probably brought out my battery problems, it was beginning to crank for a while before turning over too, so I just figured I'd replace it now before it becomes a refuses to start when...

    new Challenger

I like it, and think it will probably be a killer car. All the cars designed since the Daimler merger have been well-designed and marketed, Chrysler just has a few models left from before the merger like the Neon that are complete crap. I think it will be a winner, but still won't sell like...

    Idle surge

I have a manual 2000 mustang V6, and the idle surges up about 200 rpm every thirty seconds or so. I notice it in neutral, and in gear with the clutch in. Is this a common problem? Is there a common fix, I only noticed it recently in the cold weather?

    Kill Stories

You can get an elise for about 50 grand over here, and it's pretty much nothing but an 190 hp engine and a place to put your butt. It's power to weight ratio is about 10% better than the Mustang GT's, so it must have been at a gearing disadvantage if you beat him by that much. Looking at the...

    Thinking of selling

According to Edmunds it's worth about $1200. But hey, things are worth whatever someone wants to pay for it, so if 97Snake can get his price, then that's what it's worth to somebody. But frankly with needing paint, brakes, and leaking, you might have some major trouble getting someone to buy...

4th month in a row of lackluster Mustang sales

I went along with my friend to help her look at cars. She would be driving a brand new v6 mustang right now if it had a better interior. Compared to the other cars we drove, she found it fun to drive, maybe a bit big for her, but the interior was way behind those of other cars we drove in it's...

New idea for the 2005 mustang, tell me what you think

All metal bumpers on cars has been illegal in the US since 1970 I believe. I know that was about when the change was made, could have been a year or two later. Its a crash safety thing. And yes, that piece is completly unconvincing as a metal bumper simulator, and is also completely fugly.

    SS front bumper painted.

I frankly didn't notice your bumper at all before I made that comment, hope you weren't offended. But I'm sure you agree, a honda with body kit pieces in four colors of primer looks pretty silly.

    SS front bumper painted.

The black hood was a common feature of the cars built for racing in the various circuits, which often had a requirement of a certain number of vehicles being manufactured for public sale as well. This was how we ended up with the Boss 302 and 429, the Camaro Z28, Trans Am, AAR cuda's...

    Shelby GT500 vs. '06 Vette Z06?? A decent comparison?

The skidpad numbers and slalom times are nice, but they don't capture the majority of how actually handles. It's like measuring height and weight and determining how good a basketball player somebody is. Not going to correspond all the time. Predictablility, feel, responsiveness are all...

    2008 Bullit..?

You mean british racing green? Like Steve McQueen's favorite Jaguar's were? ;) All kidding aside, it is one of my favorite car colors, no matter who the maker and what the name is.

    Dyno'd my 05 GT ---> 384rwhp/373rwtq

All the things I see on here about Blow-by-racing seem to be advertising attempts by the company itself. There are always the same set of pictures, and they're all posted together but are from all different stages of completion of this project, with different parts on in each picture. And his...

    Thief Passes on New Stang

Car thiefs don't steal a car to sell the car whole, they send them to chop shops, cut em up, and get money for the parts. There is probably a much higher demand for parts for a 12 year old Honda than a brand new mustang. The Mustangs are all still under warranty and probably decently insured...

    Conspiracy Theory

Well, we could use the national oil reserve to do that, but Clinton approved the sale of a big chunk of it to the Al Gore's family Oil company, Occidental. Thanks big guy! But really this current oil price is still much lower in real dollars (adjusted for inflation) than it was in the 70's and...

    I think I'm crazy...

When I first got my manual mustang (a 2000), I was scared like crazy to stall it, that I'd hit something, etc. It was my first car, and I'd only driven a manual occasionally before buying one. Drive for a few months on it, and you'll be comfortable as can be. You'll mess up a few times, maybe...
