    Stupid Tough Clutch?

Thanks for the replies fellas, however I have a BBK adjustable Clutch Quadrant and have adjusted it, but still nothing. It did adjust correctly, but is still very difficult. Could this one be jacked up the same as the stock one would do as described? Thanks

    Stupid Tough Clutch?

Long story short, My car has been garaged at a family members house several years now. I maybe have drove 200great miles since 2007. I now have it back and will be driving it alot more next year etc. Was trailered to my house Sunday night. Drove off the trailer and into the garage no problem and...

    Which Head Unit

You will be able to buy a really nice head unit for $250. Decide what features you are looking for, and if you stick with Alpine, Clarion ProAudio, Pioneer Premier, Kenwood Excelon, Eclipse, and JVC, there will be virtually no difference in quality within a tight price range. They all make...

Is there any way to boost the signal to the subs?

Some head units have crossovers built in to the pre outs. Be sure the pre outs connected to his sub amp from the Kenwood aren't set to high pass. This could cause precisely what you are describing. If this is the case this is making any low pass filter on the amp useless. If the HU is only...

Speakers, Head unit, Subs, and Amps predicament

Recommendations I would make; Do not use the rear speakers with the RF components. 2 sets of components is more than enough. The stock rear speakers cannot possibly add anything of quality to the sound. In fact, I would bypass all stock gear including amps and just run new wiring for...

    speakers?

Crutchfield has a steal on Alpine SPR-574A. They're last years model. MSRP $200 for $69.99. Full Alpine warranty, and as always, Critchfield will give you free everything needed for installation.

    Did I install these wrong?

You are absolutely correct. An oversight on my part. I re-read that about 10 times before posting and still missed that. The crucial point is that if they are wired in parallel@2 ohms, that's a problem. The 8 ohms would not be a problem for the HU amp. Thanks, Bloomy316's Dad

    No Bass?

Are you sure the amp didn't go into a protection mode? If the subs are not connected to the amp properly, the amp willl overheat and shut itself down. When it cools, the protection circuit will reset. Bloomy316's Dad

    Did I install these wrong?

The common piece in both equations here is the HU. I would swap it out, if possible, and see what happens. Hopefully, if the HU is bad, you haven't ruined the new speakers. If the amp in the HU is bad this could be the case, if you like to play it loud. The voice coils in the speakers could be...

    Did I install these wrong?

Does this "rattling" sound happen at all volume levels? Or does it only occur at high volume? A couple of things I would point out. First, head units are NOT well suited for true high volume use in any way, shape, or form. There are power supply needs that a HU just simply cannot fulfill. The...

What do you think of this load and and what else do i need.

I agree with Mystifier. Since you haven't purchased an amp, do not get a 2 channel amp and bridge it. That just isn't necessary these days with all the mono sub amps available. Any combination of car audio equipment is about correct matching and not abusing the capabilities of any or all pieces...

What kind of amp with these subs?

Probably what the Crutchfield rep meant was that the Kappas won't perform up to their capabilities with a HU, which is absolutely true. But you can certainly do it until you can get an amp, if you decide to go that route. As I mentioned before, HUs just don't cut it for amplifying quality...

What kind of amp with these subs?

I would recommend against using a bridged amp of any kind to power a sub. It's just not necessary with all the nice mono amps available. With bridging an amp you get into shared power supplies and such things sometimes and it is just better to NOT do that with a sub system if you don't have to...

Any sites that can help me about audio?

Yes that amp is 5 channel. And it was made at a time when Phoenix Gold was making high end gear. It can be used in several different configurations. As I mentioned before, I would suggest using it in 3 channel mode in a vehicle such as a Mustang. To do that the front 4 channels can be bridged to...

anyone know how good this amp is?

That is a fine amp, if it has nothing wrong with it. It hasn't been produced for some time. It would be awesome for bridging the 4 channels to 2 for a really good component set up front, and for a modest subwoofer. I have a Hifonics 5 channel with similar specs in my truck, and it suits me to a...
